Bucephalandra Black Galaxy – A Rare Gem for Every Aquascape

Bucephalandra Black Galaxy is a captivating and rare species of aquatic plant prized for its deep, iridescent foliage that shimmers under aquarium lighting. With its dark, almost black leaves speckled with blue, purple, and silver hues, this Buce variety adds a mysterious and luxurious touch to any planted aquarium or nature aquarium layout. Slow-growing and hardy, it's perfect for both beginners and seasoned aquascapers looking to enhance their aquascape with a premium accent plant.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 🌌 Striking Appearance: Dark, velvety leaves with galaxy-like speckles offer a stunning contrast in any fish tank or aquascape.

  • 💧 Low-Maintenance: Grows slowly and thrives in a wide range of water conditions—ideal for low-tech and high-tech setups alike.

  • 🪨 Versatile Placement: Easily attaches to driftwood, lava rocks, or aquarium decor—no need for substrate planting.

  • ✂️ Propagation: Simply divide mature rhizomes with clean scissors to propagate; each new section will grow into its own plant.

  • 🌿 Lighting & CO₂: Does best under moderate to high lighting. CO₂ is not required but will encourage healthier, fuller growth.

  • 🧑🌾 Perfect For: Foreground or midground placement in nano tanks, aquascapes, and nature-style layouts.

Why Bucephalandra Black Galaxy is a Must-Have

Whether you’re curating a high-end aquascape or adding texture to a lush planted aquarium, Bucephalandra Black Galaxy delivers elegance and intrigue like no other. Its slow growth rate means less maintenance and algae risk, while its ability to attach to hardscape makes it a flexible choice for creative layouts. I wanted to write a quick review to encourage anyone experiencing melt with this culture. The buce came in great and looked just like the photos. The buce lost essentially all of its leaves within a week of being in my tank. I left the bare rhizomes in my tank in the hopes that it'd come back, but it wasn't looking great. About a month post-melt I'm just starting to see new (and very small) leaves grow. Hang in there! I can't wait to see the final submersed leaves!

      Beautiful!

I've never really dabbled much in tissue cultures so I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I ordered this but boy when they say "full cup" they mean FULL cup! These guys were so densely packed in I had quite a bit of trouble getting them apart into usable clumps, but I got sooooo many little plants out of it, it was well worth the struggle! It has a very lovely dark color right out of the cup, with just the slightest hint of a purple-y sheen, I can't wait to see what it looks like in its fully aquatic form!
