Kedagang Blue, also sold as Buce Godzilla Blue, carries dark green leaves with a blue cast that deepens once the plant settles into submersed growth. Kedagang is the plant; Godzilla is the trade name, and color is what separates one Kedagang from another.

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium. Too much light brings algae the plant is too slow to outgrow.
  • CO₂ — Not required. Deepens color and speeds growth if you already run it.
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — None needed. Epiphyte; attaches to wood or rock.
  • Growth habit — Amphibious rhizome creeper; grows submersed or emersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • Your light source decides whether this plant looks blue. The blue is a surface reflection rather than a pigment. Under RGB or full-spectrum lighting it reads clearly blue-green; under warm white the same plant looks dark green. Check the light before assuming you received the wrong thing.
  • Godzilla means Kedagang. The Godzilla name travels with several Kedagang color forms — blue, red, pink. Same plant type; buy on the color you want rather than the name.
  • Rinse the gel off completely and separate the four plantlets before attaching. Leftover nutrient agar clouds water and feeds algae.
  • Never bury the rhizome. Tie or glue it to wood or rock and leave it exposed; buried rhizomes rot.
  • Farm-raised, not wild-collected. All the Bucephalandra we carry is farm-grown, and much of it is raised from tissue culture rather than collected from Borneo.

Buce looked healthy

Came in a day early and was packaged very well. Plants looked very nice and healthy. And after 3 days of being in the tank my amano shrimp are still alive. So it looks like plantsfactory.com doesn't use fertilizer with their plants when feeding them.

I’m horrible at growing buces

I’m the guy that kills buces. Either I glue them to my fingers or glob up my hatdscape. That being said I’m very happy with my new project. I put the buces semi-emergent on seriou stone and they are doing awesome. I tucked a few in some malaysian driftwood and they melted because I had an algae problem. I have come to realize that no matter how hardy the plants are when you receive them, it doesn’t matter if you don’t do the right things when planting.
