Alternanthera Pink Sunset

Format: Fresh-cut Potted

Looking for pink without the bulk? Alternanthera reineckii 'Pink Sunset' is a mutation of Alternanthera reineckii that our nursery first introduced to the United States in 2021. It reads like Alternanthera reineckii 'Rosanervig' at a glance, but the stems are finer and the leaves noticeably narrower — a lighter, more delicate texture in the same color range.

What You’ll Receive

Choose from our selection of fresh, nursery-grown Alternanthera reineckii ‘Pink Sunset’:

  • Loose Fresh-Cut Plants: Approximately 6 unrooted, freshly trimmed stems.
  • Fresh Cut Bunched: About 6 stems, neatly bundled with foam and a plant weight, without root.
  • Potted Plants: Around 6 fresh-cut stems, without root in a net pot with rock wool.

  • Suits — 10 gallons and up

Grower’s Notes

  • Narrower leaves change how it plants. Standard Alternanthera reineckii makes broad blocks of color. Pink Sunset's finer stems let you use pink as an accent inside a group rather than as a wall of it.
  • The color lives on the leaf underside. Position it where the light rakes across rather than straight down, and the magenta actually shows.
  • Trim and replant tops rather than letting stems run tall. Repeated topping is what turns three stems into a dense group.
  • It feeds both at the roots and from the water column, so root tabs plus regular dosing outperform either alone.
  • Some fading and leaf drop during acclimation is normal; new growth returns to color once light and nutrients are steady.

Notes

  • Some initial leaf melt or slight color fading may occur during shipping or acclimation. This is normal — new growth will quickly regain vivid pink hues under stable lighting and nutrient conditions.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

My baby shrimps favorite

They took a bit to take root, but worth it when they finally did. Got a lot for the price; split the 6 stems up between 2 tanks.

Healthy and beautiful

When I ordered these plants, I was concerned that they would not make it because of the extreme heat. They took four days to arrive and not only did they not suffer any damage from the heat, they looks as if they were picked and packaged the same day. I have found my go to place for ordering plants.

This is my second order from APF. Arrived quickly and very well packaged. The stem cuttings were in good condition with no damage or melted leaves. Looked close enough to the photo. This is now my go-to plant supplier.
