Grower's Notes
- Iron and light together make the red. Under medium light with steady micronutrient dosing the leaves run pink to magenta. Strong light without iron gives you a fast bronze-green plant instead.
- Tissue culture stock arrives pale and small. Emersed-grown plantlets are light green with narrow leaves. The broad red submersed form appears over the following month — judge it on the third set of leaves.
- Separate the culture before planting. Rinse the gel off and plant individual stems half an inch apart. Planted as one lump the center shades out and rots.
- Trim the tops and replant them. Lower stems go bare as the group thickens. Cutting the top few inches and replanting keeps the stand dense and evenly colored, and doubles your plant count.
- Lean nitrate deepens the color. Keep nitrate modest while dosing iron consistently. Cutting nutrients off entirely stalls the plant rather than reddening it.

Just. Wow. I am writing a review of the Alternanthera Rosaefolia plants that I ordered because they are the most eye catching to me out of the box, but all the plants were gorgeous. I am so glad I ordered. I can't wait to get planting! They arrived much quicker than i expected and in beautiful condition. If anything goes wrong with these babies, it's all on me.
