Bacopa Monnieri Vitro Culture

Bacopa monnieri is the stem plant that forgives everything. Thick, rounded, almost succulent leaves on an upright stem, no fussing over CO₂ or water chemistry, and it grows fast enough to fill a background quickly. This is the sterile Vitro Culture® version — many small plantlets, no snails, no algae.

Grower's Notes

• It is a genuine low-tech plant. Medium light and no CO₂ is enough. Tissue culture gives you a clean start; the plant itself asks for nothing beyond ordinary care.
• Plant it shallow. The thick stem rots if pushed too deep. Bury the bottom node only, just enough to hold the stem upright, and roots come from that node within days.
• Separate the culture before planting. Rinse the gel off and split the cluster into individual stems spaced half an inch apart. Planted as one lump the center stems get shaded and drop their leaves.
• Trim above a node and replant the top. Each cut stem branches into two below the cut, and the removed top roots readily. A single bag becomes a full background over a few trimming cycles.
• It grows out of water too. Left to reach the surface it will emerge and produce small white flowers. Trim it below the waterline if you want it to stay submersed and bushy.

Notes

• Color and density may vary depending on light, CO₂, and nutrients. Trim regularly to maintain shape and prevent excessive vertical growth. Avoid planting too deeply in substrate.
