A handful of young Bacopa monnieri plantlets from a 4-inch Vitro Culture bag

Bacopa Monnieri Vitro Culture

Price
$9.99

Bacopa monnieri is the stem plant that forgives everything. Thick, rounded, almost succulent leaves on an upright stem, no fussing over CO₂ or water chemistry, and it grows fast enough to fill a background quickly. This is the sterile Vitro Culture® version — many small plantlets, no snails, no algae.

What You'll Receive

  • Vitro Culture Bag (4-inch): Contains a generous cluster of young Bacopa monnieri plantlets, grown in a clean, sealed environment to ensure safe and easy introduction into your aquarium.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Moneywort
  • Scientific nameBacopa monnieri
  • Also known as — Water Hyssop, Brahmi
  • Origin — Wetlands across the tropics, including India and the southern United States
  • Placement — Midground to background
  • Shipped size — Small tissue-cultured plantlets, roughly 1-2 inches
  • Mature height — 6-12 inches
  • Suits — 10 gallons and up
  • Growth rate — Fast

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Medium
  • CO₂ — Not required
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — Required. Nutrient-rich soil or root tabs; also feeds from the water column
  • Growth habit — Amphibious stem
  • Propagation — Cuttings

Grower's Notes

  • It is a genuine low-tech plant. Medium light and no CO₂ is enough. Tissue culture gives you a clean start; the plant itself asks for nothing beyond ordinary care.
  • Plant it shallow. The thick stem rots if pushed too deep. Bury the bottom node only, just enough to hold the stem upright, and roots come from that node within days.
  • Separate the culture before planting. Rinse the gel off and split the cluster into individual stems spaced half an inch apart. Planted as one lump the center stems get shaded and drop their leaves.
  • Trim above a node and replant the top. Each cut stem branches into two below the cut, and the removed top roots readily. A single bag becomes a full background over a few trimming cycles.
  • It grows out of water too. Left to reach the surface it will emerge and produce small white flowers. Trim it below the waterline if you want it to stay submersed and bushy.

Want to go deeper? Read our complete Bacopa Care Guide.

Notes

  • Color and density may vary depending on light, CO₂, and nutrients. Trim regularly to maintain shape and prevent excessive vertical growth. Avoid planting too deeply in substrate.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

What We Guarantee

24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.

How to Submit a Claim

  1. Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
  2. Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
  3. Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.

Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.

Conditions That Void the Guarantee

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
  • Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
  • Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
  • Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
  • Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services

Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.

Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.

What We Can't Guarantee

  1. Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
  2. Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
  3. Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
  4. Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.

Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

Your cooperation in protecting the environment is appreciated. For continuously updated information, refer to the USDA State Noxious Weed list here.

Thank you for your responsible commitment to environmental preservation.

Excellent First Time Experience with APF and TC Bacopa Monnieri

Before this I had never ordered plants online from any source. I am very happy with all the Tissue Cultures I purchased in this first order. Well Done, Aquarium Plants Factory!

Very healthy plants

Every single tissue culture plant I’ve gotten from this seller is thriving and looking amazing! The same with this one. No melting and it’s already starting to root and produce new leaves. Thanks for the excellent quality plants!

Some of my favorite!

Grow well and great in my low-tech tanks. My order looked way smaller than I thought it would when it arrived in a small well-insulated little package (my first time ordering plants online), but it was a pleasant surprise when I got them all unwrapped. All super healthy and I didn’t find any snails.

Patience

They didn't come super clean and one stem even rot right away (rot, not burn) and my snales won't even touch it. For the rest it was fairly easy to separate and plant the stems. Now im just waiting for my tank to cycle and the plants start to lush up.

Another great order from APF

The Bacopa Moneywart looks beautiful in my tank. They're a nice size for tissue culture plants, taller than I expected. My previous order of TC plants from APF never melted! - which is really unusual and was such a relief. Fingers crossed these will be the same, but if they do melt a little I know it'll be ok because they started out so healthy.
