Bucephalandra Biblis Blue Sky

Format: 1 Plant (5+ Leaf)

Price
$24.99

Biblis Blue Sky is one of the strongly iridescent Bucephalandra varieties — narrow, wavy-edged leaves that throw blue, turquoise and violet reflections depending on the angle you view them from. It stays under three inches, which makes it a nano plant with an outsized visual effect.

What You'll Receive

Sold as loose bare-root plants:

  • 1 Plant: Loose bare-root with approximately 6+ leaves
  • 5 Plants: Loose bare-root with approximately 25+ leaves total
  • 10 Plants: Loose bare-root with approximately 50+ leaves total

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Biblis Blue Sky Buce
  • Scientific name — Bucephalandra sp. 'Biblis Blue Sky'
  • Also known as — Buce Biblis Blue Sky
  • Origin — Borneo (genus range)
  • Placement — Foreground, attached to hardscape
  • Mature height — 1-3 inches
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium. Moderate light brings out the blue; under very low light the leaf reads plain dark green.
  • CO₂ — Not required, but it deepens color and speeds an otherwise slow plant.
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — None needed. Epiphyte; feeds from the water column.
  • Growth habit — Amphibious rhizome creeper; grows submersed or emersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • The blue is structural, not pigment. It comes from the way the leaf surface reflects light, so it appears and disappears as you move around the tank and photographs unpredictably. Position it where viewers see it from an angle, not straight on.
  • Never bury the rhizome. Tie or glue it to wood or rock and leave it exposed; buried rhizomes rot.
  • Farm-raised, not wild-collected. All the Bucephalandra we carry is farm-grown, and much of it is raised from tissue culture rather than collected from Borneo.
  • Some leaf melt after shipping is normal. The rhizome survives and pushes new submersed leaves within a few weeks.
  • Divide with a clean blade, keeping several leaves and some roots on each section.

Notes

Bucephalandra species are naturally slow growers and may experience minor leaf melt during acclimation. This is temporary — new, healthy leaves will develop as the plant adjusts to your aquarium environment.

Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
