Bucephalandra Kedagang Red on Rock - Aquarium Plants Factory

Bucephalandra Kedagang Red on Rock

Price
$19.99

Kedagang Red is one of the more strongly colored Bucephalandra — deep green leaves that flush red-bronze under the right light, on a compact rhizome. This one arrives already grown onto a rock, so there is no tying, no gluing and no waiting for it to grip.

What You'll Receive

  • Sold as a plant on a rock.
  • Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Buce Kedagang Red
  • Scientific nameBucephalandra sp. 'Kedagang Red'
  • Also known as — Bucephalandra Red Godzilla; tribe Schismatoglottideae, family Araceae
  • Origin — Borneo, Indonesia
  • Placement — Foreground to midground; sits on the substrate or wedges into hardscape
  • Mature height — 2-4 inches
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium
  • CO₂ — Not required
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — None needed; the rock sits on top and the rhizome stays in open water
  • Growth habit — Amphibious epiphyte, feeds from roots and water column
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • Do not bury the rock. Set it on the substrate or wedge it between other stones. Pushing it under gravel buries the rhizome underneath, and buried Buce rhizomes rot.
  • Expect roughly an inch of growth per year. Bucephalandra is among the slowest plants sold. The piece you receive is close to the piece you will have next year — which is why it holds a scape's composition without trimming.
  • Red needs light, but not much. The bronze-red tone develops under moderate light; strong light bleaches it toward green and invites algae onto leaves the plant cannot replace quickly.
  • It is meant to be moved. Lift the rock out for a water change, turn it, try it in three positions. That flexibility is the reason to buy Buce pre-attached rather than gluing it yourself.
  • Melt after shipping is normal. Some leaves may drop in the first fortnight while the rhizome settles. Leave it attached and undisturbed — new growth comes from the rhizome, not the old leaves.

Notes

  • Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

What We Guarantee

24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.

How to Submit a Claim

  1. Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
  2. Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
  3. Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.

Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.

Conditions That Void the Guarantee

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
  • Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
  • Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
  • Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
  • Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services

Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.

Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.

What We Can't Guarantee

  1. Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
  2. Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
  3. Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
  4. Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.

Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

Your cooperation in protecting the environment is appreciated. For continuously updated information, refer to the USDA State Noxious Weed list here.

Thank you for your responsible commitment to environmental preservation.

The plant arrived flattened because something was placed on top. It was not on a hard box. Hopefully it will survive! But is not pretty!

Buce on rock

First time ordering from them and this type of plant. I was expecting the package at my door step, but the postman put it in my mail box. I didn't discover this until after the plants had been in the mail box in 90+ degree weather for several hours. I expected to find everything mush, but I was happily surprised to find the packaging so well done that everything was still bright green and looking great! The rock was covered in Buce and has been in my tank for a couple of days. It looks good and I'm looking forward to seeing this plant mature grow and spread.

Fish love it

Fish love it.It looks natural and can not be rooted up by any sized fish.It also can be moved around if I desire to re arrange the display a little.I used my pieces in an arrangement that is a little like a penjing design with dragon stone as a hardscape.I use APF mostly, because because I can count on the reliability of there products.

Neat Pattern

The plant I received was more or less the same size as the one in the picture with a little smaller rock. These prices are comparable to Petsmart but you don't get such a cool selection of plants there.

How tall do these grow?

Aquarium Plants Factory

Like most Bucephalandra, Kedagang Red is a slow-growing, low-profile plant - it doesn't send up tall stems, but instead stays compact and spreads outward across the rock or hardscape it's attached to. So you can expect a short, mounding growth habit rather than height, which makes it great for foreground or midground accents.
