Want pink rather than red? Pink Godzilla, also known as Kedagang Pink, shifts from light pink through deep magenta depending on light and maturity. It is the pink member of the Godzilla family, and a distinctly different plant from Red or Green Godzilla.

What You’ll Receive

Sold as Bare-root Plants or Potted Plants:

  • Bare-root Plants: Approximately 1-2 loose plants
  • Potted Plants: Approximately 1-2 plants potted in rockwool and a net pot for secure growth and easy placement.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Pink Godzilla Buce, also known as Kedagang Pink
  • Scientific nameBucephalandra sp. 'Pink Godzilla'
  • Origin — Borneo
  • Placement — Midground, on wood or stone
  • Mature height — 3–5 in
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium. Too much light brings algae it cannot outgrow
  • CO₂ — Not required. It deepens colour and speeds growth, nothing more
  • Water — 72–82°F · pH 6.0–7.5
  • Substrate — Not required. Attaches to hardscape
  • Growth habit — Amphibious. Also grows emersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower’s Notes

  • Never bury the rhizome. Roots may sit in substrate; the rhizome cannot. Buried, it rots — the usual way an expensive Buce is lost.
  • The colour genuinely changes. Pink Godzilla shifts through its range as the plant matures and as lighting changes, so the shade you receive is not necessarily the shade you keep. This is the plant behaving normally.
  • Give it flow. Bucephalandra are rheophytes from fast Borneo streams, and moderate current keeps the leaves clean of debris and algae.
  • Divide by cutting the rhizome, keeping several leaves and some root on each section.
  • Farm-raised, not wild-collected. All the Bucephalandra we carry is farm-grown, and much of it is raised from tissue culture rather than collected from Borneo.

Godzilla and Kedagang are the same name — the colour is what tells them apart. See also Kedagang Red (Red Godzilla) and Green Godzilla, which are different plants.

Notes

  • Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation. Unless specific, we don't guarantee aquatic plants will be free of pests, pesticides, grow emerged, or submerge.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

Customers praised this aquarium plant for arriving "vibrant and healthy" with "amazing texture and leaf shape." Many noted plants were smaller than expected but thrived in low-tech tanks without CO2. Shoppers appreciated generous portions and minimal melting. One caution: it's described as "delicate." Overall, customers were "super duper happy" with quality and condition.

So happy!

Made some purchases recently when they had the buy free and got one free or I think it was buy two get one free deal. I'm super duper happy with the order I got all of my plants came in perfect condition and decent sizes. I had ordered three tufts of Phoenix Moss because I'm used to places not giving too much but honestly I had way more than I needed which is great and my shrimps are very happy

Cool texture

This is the first buce that has not shown signs of any melting. Of course, this is now my fourth time buying bucephalandra, so maybe I've learned not to do such large water changes...and that might be why my buce dark green wavy or my buce malawi pink has some melting leaves.

Anyways, this pink godzilla has some amazing texture and leaf shape. I don't run any CO2 or a fancy set up, so I might never see any other color than green and its growth might be slower, but for my tank, this pink godzilla was exactly what I wanted.

Interesting but delicate buce

Purchased 3/3/24. Photo shows plant on 7/9/24 after being in a VERY low-tech tank. Interesting little plant! I prefer buce that aren't the standard greens, which is why I decided to try this one. Delicate, though.

Best Buce plants

These plants came in vibrant and healthy and looked beautiful. They were on the smaller side but that that was perfectly fine. The All plants were clean with zero melt and the whole order was insulated to protect the plants. All plants I received from APF were in the best shape of any I have received for any other store.

Pretty, Healthy Little Plant

As always, my plants arrived in great condition. I can't wait to see this little one grow. It's going to be quite beautiful once it settles in. Thank you APF!

Not what I expected

First, this plant was so beautiful and healthy. That being said, when I received it, I didn’t know I had purchased this plant. I thought I had purchased a background plant! I reached out to customer service and they assured me I had all my plants. I basically took out all my plants in my new tank and realized that this was indeed the correct plant I had purchased. I was looking at a lot of new plants at this time so I may have confused myself. So, this was not a plant I was expecting, however, I’ve learned to love it. I wanted to give this a 4 star because I feel like the picture doesn’t depict it accurately (or as close to what I received - yes they do have a disclaimer about that). But, I give this a 5 based on its healthy look, was well packaged, clean, and versatile. I initially kept it as a foreground plant but when I took everything out, I decided it would look better attached to my spider wood. And I agree with the previous reviewer: it’s smaller then I expected. Do I regret my purchase? No way!

Little but looks good

The plant is certainly a bit smaller than I expected but I know it will grow. It looks healthy and was easy to add to my tank!

Awesome Buce Plants

My second time ordered Buce plants from APF and i am very happy with all of the Buce plants that I received.

Amazing, highly recommend

This is the first Buce that I have tried, I ordered 2 and got the 3rd bunch free. Each bunch had 3 smaller bunches. All the plants were healthy and are thriving, even after the shipping process. This is the second order I have had from the aquarium plants factory and honestly I regret buying plants from the pet store. These plants are so healthy and clean. The worst part is deciding which Buce to get!

Are these bare root buce grown emerged or submerged?

Aquarium Plants Factory

Our bare-root Bucephalandra plants are grown emersed (above water) in nursery conditions, since that produces sturdier rhizomes and faster growth before shipping. Once submerged in your tank, it's normal for some of the emersed leaves to melt back as the plant adjusts - new submersed-form leaves will grow in as it acclimates, so a little patience in the first few weeks goes a long way.

Alternanthera Rosanervig Mini is a striking, small-leaved cultivar of the popular Alternanthera family, prized for its vivid pink to red coloration and compact growth habit. Ideal for nano tanks and high-impact foreground to midground layouts, this miniature variety features pronounced pink veining on each leaf, adding a dramatic contrast against green aquatic plants.
