The bluest Buce we stock. Bucephalandra sp. 'Super Blue' carries an unusually strong blue sheen across dark leaves — more pronounced than the faint iridescence most of the genus shows. In the wild, Bucephalandra grow as dense mats over stones in fast Borneo streams, and that's still how they grow best.

Grower’s Notes
- The blue is structural, not pigment. It comes from the leaf surface reflecting light rather than any dye in the tissue — which is why it shifts as you move past the tank, why photographs never capture it properly, and why it makes the plant no harder to keep.
- Never bury the rhizome. Tie it to rock or wood with cotton thread; buried rhizomes rot, and glue burns whatever tissue it touches.
- Give it flow. Bucephalandra evolved in fast streams and hold color better where water moves across the leaves.
- Growth is measured in months. That slowness is why Buce holds its shape in a scape for years without trimming.
- Divide with a clean blade, keeping a few leaves and some roots per section.

Customers praised these aquatic plants as "big and healthy" with "thick and strong rhizomes." Most reported minimal melting and vibrant blue coloring. Plants arrived larger than expected with good packaging. Some concerns about rhizome rot and fish eating plants, though overwhelmingly positive reviews highlight excellent quality and value.
- No visible melting yet, and the rhizomes were thick and strong.
- The Plants arrived nice and healthy, plus they were bigger than I expected!
- They pack extremely healthy plants! They are just super quick hardly any melt.

Have had a handful of super blue bunches for two weeks now, and they still look great. No sign of pests but I gave them a 3 day alum soak before attaching to the hardscape in my tank. No visible melting yet, and the rhizomes were thick and strong.

Plants arrived on time in great condition. They're very healthy looking and larger than expected. Definitely would recommend for anyone who's looking for buce.

My first time ordering from APF. This beautiful plant arrived big and healthy despite the cold. Sadly I lost the plant after a few weeks due to rhizome rot, but I will definitely be getting more!
K
This was my first time ordering from APF and I already feel like a loyal customer. The plants I received were very large and healthy!
J
I ordered many times from APF and every time, the plants came looking beautiful and healthy. I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you

Ordered the Buy 2, Get 1 Free expecting to get one or two plants per bundle and got 2 or (mostly) 3 per bundle. So, instead of 3 Super Blue, I have 8 -- very nice as now I have them in THREE different tanks. They were well packed and are healthy, with viable rhizomes and pristine leaves. Not quite as bushy as some of the other reviewers' plants (fewer leaves), but nothing to sneeze at either. And they are gorgeous!!
D
Ordered this plant to finish off my aquarium. Ordered from Aquarium Plants Factory for the 3rd time. I really wish I ordered more from them!
Plants arrived big and healthy. Emphasis on big, because the plant they send you is bigger than other sellers I've purchased from.
B
I just ordered four different varieties of Buce from Aquarium Plants Factory and each arrived in beautiful shape. But this one has got to be my favorite out of the flour. The blue hue that the plant emits is really starting to show through now that it's been submerged for a day. I'd say it comes through more than the pictures suggest. It's is a nice size. I received two rhizomes, each with several leaves. Can't go wrong and they will make for a striking addition to your tank.
