Plant information

Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green Vitro Culture

About this plant

If one Crypt is going to work in your tank, it's this one. Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Green' is the most forgiving plant in a forgiving genus — ruffled, lance-shaped green leaves in a compact rosette, growing in low light, without CO₂, across a wide range of water. This is the sterile Vitro Culture® format.

What you'll receive

One 4-inch Vitro Culture® bag containing multiple rosettes of Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green, ready to be rinsed, divided, and planted directly into your aquarium substrate.

  • Plant size, yield, and leaf appearance may vary depending on the growing stage. Cryptocoryne may temporarily melt when adjusting to new water parameters but will regrow with stable conditions.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

Grower's notes

  • The one to start with. Wendtii Green asks less than any other Crypt — no CO₂, low light, and it spreads on its own. If you want to know whether Cryptocoryne suits your tank before buying the harder color forms, buy this one first.
  • Expect melt after planting. Crypts drop their leaves on a change of conditions and rebuild from the roots over two to four weeks. Don't pull them out.
  • Place it once. Every move triggers another melt.
  • Feed at the roots. Root tabs under the crown do more than any liquid dosing.
  • Hard water is no obstacle. Cryptocoryne generally do better in harder water than most planted-tank species — if stem plants have disappointed you in hard tap water, this is the group to try.

How it arrives

A sealed Vitro Culture® bag

Lab-grown plantlets in nutrient gel, free of snails, algae and pests.

  1. Keep it sealed at room temperature, out of direct sun, until you're ready to plant.
  2. Rinse off all the gel under lukewarm water. Left in the tank, it clouds the water and feeds algae.
  3. Split into small portions and plant with tweezers. Small portions spread faster than one big clump.

Normal: a little melt in the first weeks as underwater leaves replace the leaves grown in the lab.

Check your plants within 24 hours of delivery. That's your Live Arrival Guarantee window.

Are your plants free from pests, algae, and pesticides?

Our plants are very clean, but we can’t guarantee they will be 100% free of hitchhikers (snails, algae, pests), because we can’t be responsible for your aquarium. We recommend rinsing all plants with clean water and quarantining them before use.

Plants in our Tissue Culture collection are 100% free of pests and algae and have never been in contact with any aquarium.

We don’t guarantee our plants are free of pesticides. We use homemade, organic pesticides in our greenhouse to control pests, and never pesticides containing copper, which is toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp.

We don’t guarantee your aquarium’s success and aren’t responsible for its inhabitants, including but not limited to fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use!

Are your plants grown emersed or submerged?

It depends on the species. Most of our plants are grown hydroponically in a controlled-environment greenhouse.

Common stem plants such as Ludwigia, Bacopa, and Myriophyllum, and rheophyte/epiphyte plants (Anubias, Bucephalandra, Microsorum, Bolbitis, etc.) are grown emersed, hydroponically, in a controlled high-humidity environment.

True aquatic plants that can’t grow emersed — such as Vallisneria, Elodea, Najas, Cabomba, Potamogeton gayi, and Ceratophyllum demersum — are always cultivated submerged, underwater.

Should I remove the foam, weight, or pot before planting?

It’s totally up to you — we usually keep them as they are!

What’s the difference between fresh-cut, bare-root, and potted plants?

All options offer the same high quality; they differ in how they are prepared and packaged:

  • Fresh-cut Plants: loose, freshly cut plants without roots. Great flexibility if you prefer to plant them your own way.
  • Fresh-cut Bunched: freshly cut plants without roots, bundled with foam and a plant weight, ready to place in your aquarium.
  • Fresh-cut Potted: freshly cut plants without roots, potted in a net pot with rockwool for stability and a quick setup.
  • Bare-root Plants: loose, rooted plants you can position exactly where you want.
  • Rooted Bunched: rooted plants bundled with foam and a plant weight — easy placement plus the stability of roots.
  • Rooted Potted: rooted plants potted in a net pot with rockwool — maximum stability and a low-maintenance setup.

Choose based on your planting preference and your aquarium setup.

Lots of pieces, all healthy

I was able to split 16 good sized pieces off of the tissue culture I received. All lovely color and vibrant growth, no dead leaves and most of them were trying to grow thick roots

Packed with dozens of plants!

I can barely believe how many tiny cryptocorne plants I was able to tease apart from this one little tissue culture cup. More than 40 plants! Shipping was prompt, and the greenery was lush. Five Stars.

Lush and beautiful

Came in lush and beautiful, these were probably some of my favorite aquarium plants I’ve ever bought, and I’ve bought from several places online. These little guys have a lot of gel on the bottom that needs to be washed off (I used aquarium water), and their roots all seem to converge into a mat. I gave up trying to separate them and cut the bridges between each group of plantlets with a scissors, but realized afterwards the plants were tough enough to just be firmly and slowly pulled apart and their roots would follow. Mine are doing well even in my hard water and seem to be growing. I am excited to see them grow more (fingers crossed, root tabs, and liquid fertilizer ;) )

Great Product

I received my tissue culture cup in about 5 days while in NC. The plants came in great shape and so far no melt back. Was able to separate the plants into about 8 big clumps. Will definitely buy from here again.

I was very happy with the delivery time and the quality of the tissue culture. The green Wendi is doing very well. I also appreciate that they did not pummel me with advertising gimmick. I’ll certainly buy tissue culture from them again.

Huge tissue culture!

The size of this culture is much larger than the picture and comes with well over 100 individual plants, but i broke them up into 8 groups. I am very pleased with my order!

Looked great

The cup was crammed full of very healthy plants that were well rooted. I divided it into 6 bunches and planted them yesterday. So far so good. It probably could have been separated into more groups for sure, but I thought if I left them in larger chunks they would be more likely to survive any crypt melt.
