Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green

About this plant

A compact rosette of wavy green leaves that spreads by runner into a low thicket. It grows in low light without CO₂ and, once settled, needs almost nothing — the whole difficulty is the first month.

What you'll receive

  • Sold as Bare-root Plants, Bunched Plants, or Potted Plants
  • Young plants grow in a controlled laboratory environment
  • Bare-root Plants | loose, small bare-root portion
  • Bunched Plants | bundle with foam and lead weight
  • Potted Plants | potted with rockwood and net pot
  • Photos are for reference; leaf shape, size and color vary considerably with lighting and nutrients.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

    Grower's notes

    • Expect it to melt after planting. Crypts drop most or all of their leaves when conditions change, then regrow from the roots over two to four weeks.
    • Do not pull it out while it's melting. The roots are alive and working — removing it is what turns a recoverable melt into a lost plant.
    • Feed at the roots. Water-column dosing alone gives thin, pale leaves.
    • Once established, leave it where it is. Crypts melt again when moved, so decide placement before planting.

    How it arrives

Rooted plants in a net pot with rockwool

The most stable option, with roots already established.

    1. Rinse the plant under clean water.
    2. Plant the pot as is, or ease the plant out and gently tease away the rockwool. Either way works.
    3. For epiphytes like Anubias and Bucephalandra, keep the rhizome above the substrate or tie it to wood or rock.

Check your plants within 24 hours of delivery. That's your Live Arrival Guarantee window.

Are your plants free from pests, algae, and pesticides?

Our plants are very clean, but we can’t guarantee they will be 100% free of hitchhikers (snails, algae, pests), because we can’t be responsible for your aquarium. We recommend rinsing all plants with clean water and quarantining them before use.

Plants in our Tissue Culture collection are 100% free of pests and algae and have never been in contact with any aquarium.

We don’t guarantee our plants are free of pesticides. We use homemade, organic pesticides in our greenhouse to control pests, and never pesticides containing copper, which is toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp.

We don’t guarantee your aquarium’s success and aren’t responsible for its inhabitants, including but not limited to fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use!

Are your plants grown emersed or submerged?

It depends on the species. Most of our plants are grown hydroponically in a controlled-environment greenhouse.

Common stem plants such as Ludwigia, Bacopa, and Myriophyllum, and rheophyte/epiphyte plants (Anubias, Bucephalandra, Microsorum, Bolbitis, etc.) are grown emersed, hydroponically, in a controlled high-humidity environment.

True aquatic plants that can’t grow emersed — such as Vallisneria, Elodea, Najas, Cabomba, Potamogeton gayi, and Ceratophyllum demersum — are always cultivated submerged, underwater.

Should I remove the foam, weight, or pot before planting?

It’s totally up to you — we usually keep them as they are!

What’s the difference between fresh-cut, bare-root, and potted plants?

All options offer the same high quality; they differ in how they are prepared and packaged:

    • Fresh-cut Plants: loose, freshly cut plants without roots. Great flexibility if you prefer to plant them your own way.
    • Fresh-cut Bunched: freshly cut plants without roots, bundled with foam and a plant weight, ready to place in your aquarium.
    • Fresh-cut Potted: freshly cut plants without roots, potted in a net pot with rockwool for stability and a quick setup.
    • Bare-root Plants: loose, rooted plants you can position exactly where you want.
    • Rooted Bunched: rooted plants bundled with foam and a plant weight — easy placement plus the stability of roots.
    • Rooted Potted: rooted plants potted in a net pot with rockwool — maximum stability and a low-maintenance setup.

Choose based on your planting preference and your aquarium setup.

    Great plants and shipped well

I bought a good amount of plants from APF both to set up a new 10 gallon Betta Tank and add to our existing 75 gallon community tank. The plants came in very well packaged and in great health. We just did a second order to add a bit more to the 75 gallon since we now know how great the plants are coming in.

    Somewhat successful

I ordered two of these Crypt. Wendtii Green, but got 5 plants from the bunch (sweet), but after a month, only 3/5 have survived my aquarium. Two of them have shown no signs of stress or melt, but one is somewhat doing ok.

8 month update: couldn't be better!!!

As a total plant newbie growing on pure eco-complete, in really hard water, pH 8, low/medium light, no heater (~70-75F) ... in a low-stocked 20gal tank of 14 male endlers & 1 bristlenose ... with only adding like 1 root tab/plant and only a few squirts of water column fertilizer total over the course of 7 months ... I was a bit afraid how these would do, as I heard crypts can be a little tricky. Turns out, the plants started healthy and are STILL doing GREAT, far exceeding my expectations of how it might go!!! In fact, they've at *least* quadrupled in size, both in number of leaves and length of leaves, and also completely overtook the "brown" crypts (also from APF), even though I started with more of the "brown" ones. Another bonus: these were a GREAT deal. Pretty sure APF even gave me extra over the bonus get-one-free!! Could not recommend this purchase more, especially if your parameters are anything like mine!! If you scroll through photos, I show both ~1 month after purchase and also now, 8 months later!

    Fish love them

My betta fish love these plants. They arrived quickly and, while they had a few dead leaves, that's to be expected, and they have begun to perk up in a matter of a couple days.

    Excellent quality

Plants were well packaged and very healthy upon arrival. After planting they appeared crinkled due to compression from shipping, but within a day the leaves reorganized and looked completely normal. Even got a few "extra" plants by subdividing the base of the originals.

This entire nanotank aquascape is with plants from Aquarium Plants Factory. All arrived very healthy.

It’s only been 2 days for my Wendtii and only a few leaves are melting.

    Plants were packaged well

These plants (CRYPTOCORYNE WENDTII 'GREEN') were packaged well with plenty of moisture in pots. Compared to the cuttings I received (BACOPA CAROLINIANA-poor condition), these (CRYPTOCORYNE WENDTII 'GREEN') plants fared well during transport and arrived healthy. They look great in my refugium and 65 gallon tank.
