Cryptocoryne Willisii

Format: Bare-root Plants

Price
$5.99

Slender, lance-shaped leaves in green to olive-brown, growing as a low rosette that spreads by runner. Cryptocoryne willisii is one of the smaller crypts — the one to use when you want a foreground that fills in by itself instead of needing weekly trimming.

Grower's Notes

  • It carpets, slowly, and then stays put. Willisii sends runners under the substrate and fills in around itself. Plant the portions a couple of inches apart and leave them — in a year you have a low, dense stand that a carpeting stem plant could not hold without constant trimming and CO₂.
  • Expect it to melt after planting. Crypts drop their leaves on a change of conditions and rebuild from the roots over two to four weeks. Do not pull them out.
  • Plant the crown at substrate level. Bury the roots and leave the growing point exposed. A buried crown rots from the center.
  • Feed the roots. Crypts take almost everything from the substrate. Root tabs or aquasoil give full leaves; inert sand with liquid dosing gives short pale ones.
  • Place it once. Every move triggers another melt and interrupts the runners.

Bit disappointed

I've ordered from you several times. For the most part it's been ok. Bit pricey. My last order was possibly the smallest weakest specimens I've ordered. We will see if they make it. For $116 I got junk. Please try better
