Grower's Notes

• Measure the width, not just the height. The leaves arch outward as much as upward, so this plant claims a wide footprint. Give it clear space in front and beside it rather than tucking it into a corner.
• Root tabs are not optional. It builds a substantial root mass and takes almost everything from the substrate. Liquid dosing alone produces small pale leaves regardless of lighting.
• Never bury the crown. Cover the roots and leave the growing point at substrate level. A buried crown rots from the center and the plant does not recover.
• It propagates from flower stalks, not runners. A settled plant sends up an inflorescence carrying plantlets along its length; let each root and grow three or four leaves before cutting it free.
• Expect the first leaves to melt as it converts from emersed nursery growth. The submersed leaves that follow are the ones to judge it on.
