Echinodorus Hadi Red Pearl Vitro Culture

Hadi Red Pearl is a compact sword — short-stemmed oval leaves in a tight rosette that turn ruby to deep burgundy under strong light. At 10-16 inches it fits tanks where a full Amazon Sword would take over. This is the tissue-culture version: clean, pest-free, and packed with several young plants per cup.

Care

• Difficulty — Intermediate
• Light — Medium to high. Light is what drives the red; under low light the plant survives but turns green.
• CO₂ — Recommended. Not mandatory, but it speeds establishment and holds color.
• Water — 68-82°F, pH 6.5-7.5
• Substrate — Nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs required. Heavy root feeder.
• Growth habit — Amphibious rosette; grows submersed or emersed
• Propagation — Adventitious plantlets on flower stalks

Grower's Notes

• Rinse the gel off before planting. Tissue-culture plants arrive in nutrient agar; leftover gel feeds bacteria and fouls the substrate.
• Separate the cup into individual plantlets and space them a few inches apart. Planted as one clump they shade each other and thin out.
• New tissue-culture leaves are emersed-grown and will be shed as the plant converts to submersed growth. Judge it by the leaves that come after, not the ones it arrives with.
• Iron-rich root tabs are the single biggest lever on red intensity — more so than water-column dosing for this genus.
• It sends out a flower stalk when happy. Pin the stalk down to the substrate and the plantlets along it will root themselves.

Plant size and color may vary slightly depending on lighting, water parameters, and aquarium conditions. Strong lighting and root fertilization are recommended to develop the deep red tones characteristic of this cultivar.
