Grower’s Notes

• New leaves carry the color. Red and pink appear on emerging growth and fade toward green as each leaf ages, so a healthy plant shows color at the center and green at the outside. That is normal, not a deficiency.
• Feed at the roots. Swords take almost everything through their roots and respond very little to liquid dosing.
• Plant the crown at the substrate line, never below it. A buried crown rots.
• It propagates from aerial stalks, not runners. A mature plant sends a floral stalk up or arching across the tank with plantlets along its length. Let each develop three or four leaves and roots before cutting it free.
• Rinse the gel off completely before planting or it clouds water and feeds algae in the first weeks.
