Grower’s Notes
- Frond size is what you're paying for. Most mosses read as texture from a distance. Nobilis is large enough that the feather shape stays legible — use it where it will be seen up close, not as background filler.
- Tie it thinly and flat. The fronds grow in one plane, so pressing it flat against wood or stone gives the best result; a thick pad hides the structure and rots underneath.
- Slow growth means it holds its shape for months without trimming — but also that algae, once in it, is very hard to clear.
- Keep light moderate and flow steady; stagnant corners let detritus settle between the fronds.
- Divide with scissors and re-attach the pieces — each fragment establishes independently.

I tied these SO POORLY I was sure they’d die. Less than a week in they are orienting themselves toward the light and showing little bright green parts. I’m excited to see where they go (tied on the lower branches of the front).
