Grower’s Notes
- Keep it under 78°F. Juncus repens is a temperate species and thins out in a warm tropical tank. In a room-temperature or lightly heated tank it does far better than most warm-water plants.
- Red is optional. Under moderate light it stays green and healthy — the color is a bonus from high light and nutrients, not a requirement.
- Feed at the roots. Runner production drops noticeably without root tabs or a nutrient substrate.
- Divide the tissue-culture portion into small clumps and plant them an inch apart rather than as one mass.
- Rinse the gel off completely before planting or it clouds water and feeds algae early on.
