Lagenandra Meeboldii Red - Tissue Culture Cup

Lagenandra Meeboldii Red Vitro Culture

Price
$11.99

Lagenandra meeboldii 'Red' is what a Cryptocoryne would look like if it had been bred for color. Broad, quilted leaves in bronze and deep red rise from a creeping rhizome, and it holds that color in low light with no CO₂ — which almost no other red plant does. This is the sterile Vitro Culture® format.

Grower's Notes

  • Do not bury the rhizome. The thick creeping stem must sit on or just under the substrate surface with the roots below it. Buried, it rots — and this plant is far too slow to recover from that.
  • Color tracks light, both ways. Under stronger light the leaves push toward red and purple; in shade they stay greener. Both are healthy, but be aware that a slow plant under strong light collects algae faster than it grows new leaves.
  • It melts like a Crypt. Tissue culture plants shed their emersed leaves converting to submersed growth. Leave the rhizome undisturbed and new leaves follow within a few weeks.
  • Rinse the gel off completely and set each rhizome shallowly, roots down and growing points clear.
  • Feed the root zone — root tabs under the rhizome do more than any liquid fertilizer. For an established plant, see the bare-root version.

Notes

  • Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation. Unless specific, we don't guarantee aquatic plants will be free of pests, and pesticides, grow emerged or submerge.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
