Limnophila Hippuridoides

Emerged Growth: Fresh-cut Plants

Price
$7.99

Often confused with Limnophila aromatica, and easy to tell apart once you know. Limnophila hippuridoides carries noticeably more than three leaves per whorl, giving a denser, bushier stem — and under strong light the undersides deepen to reddish-purple. Native to the Malay Peninsula.

Grower’s Notes

  • Count the leaves to identify it. L. aromatica carries three or four leaves per whorl; hippuridoides carries more. If you're buying both, label them — once they're growing side by side they are genuinely hard to tell apart.
  • The purple sits on the leaf undersides. Position it where light rakes across the group rather than straight down, or the color hides.
  • Trim and replant tops. Fast growth plus repeated topping is what builds the dense bushy stand this plant is bought for.
  • Space stems an inch apart. Dense whorls shade each other badly when crowded, and lower leaves drop.
  • It feeds at the roots as well as the water column — root tabs plus dosing beat either alone.

Notes

  • Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation. Unless specific, we don't guarantee aquatic plants will be free of pests, and pesticides, grow emerged or submerge.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

What We Guarantee

24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.

How to Submit a Claim

  1. Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
  2. Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
  3. Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.

Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.

Conditions That Void the Guarantee

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
  • Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
  • Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
  • Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
  • Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services

Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.

Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.

What We Can't Guarantee

  1. Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
  2. Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
  3. Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
  4. Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.

Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

Your cooperation in protecting the environment is appreciated. For continuously updated information, refer to the USDA State Noxious Weed list here.

Thank you for your responsible commitment to environmental preservation.

My favorite in the tank!

I was super happy with the packaging first of all. All of my plants arrived healthy and looking good. I got 6 different kinds in total but the Limnophila Hippuridoide is one of my favorites. Super vibrant and kind of purple too. The plant is in the back left in the photo.

A great variety

This is a very variable Limnophila, I used to have this plant for years, then lost it. Recently, I wanted it back and bought it from three different US suppliers, none survived. I tried this APF variety and, in two weeks, is is essentially acclimatized to my tank and is growing fast (as it should). GH 4, KH 2-2.5, pH 6-6.3, Phosphates 1.5-2 ppm, Nitrates 10 ppm. I suggest that if you want Limnophila Hippuridoides, you may want to buy it from APF, their stock is of a very strong, bright colored, true aquatic variety.

Hardy and attractive

I had a buy 2 get one free (great deal) and they arrived healthy and very good looking. They seem to be pest free thus far, and look amazing as background plants in my aquarium. I will definitely be buying more plants from here in the future.

A Beautiful Plant

This plant and several others arrived in very good shape. My plants and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 3rd CO2 system! Talk about every thing going wrong. These plants are waning some, but I am knowledgeable in restarting them if need be when the CO2 system arrives in two more days. We are hanging on by our roots!

I bought these and it came with lead weights. I planted them in the Fluval spectrum substrate without roots. How long will they start rooting? I don’t have a co2 system but I add liquid fertilizer daily. So far they just keep uprooting and float on top.

Aquarium Plants Factory

Fresh-cut stems typically take about 2-4 weeks to develop new roots, so some floating and uprooting in the first couple weeks is normal, especially in a looser gravel-type substrate like Fluval Stratum. A few things that can help: plant the stems a bit deeper (at least 1.5-2 inches into the substrate) and trim off the very bottom of the stem first if it looks woody or damaged, since that part roots more easily when fresh. Leaving the lead-free weights on a little longer than usual can also help anchor them while roots establish. No CO2 is fine for this plant, it will just grow a bit slower - your daily liquid fertilizer should help support it in the meantime. If a few stems keep popping loose, it's usually just a matter of gently replanting them until the roots catch, rather than a sign anything is wrong.

Alternanthera Rosanervig Mini is a striking, small-leaved cultivar of the popular Alternanthera family, prized for its vivid pink to red coloration and compact growth habit. Ideal for nano tanks and high-impact foreground to midground layouts, this miniature variety features pronounced pink veining on each leaf, adding a dramatic contrast against green aquatic plants.
