A Bucephalandra Species Vitro Culture Premium Full Bag [Grower's Choice]

Sale price
$13.99
Regular price
$19.99

Bucephalandra is priced by name as much as by plant. This is the same lab-grown stock without the label — a full 4-inch tissue culture bag of a species our growers pick from what is looking best that week. You do not choose which one, and that is why it costs what it does.

What You'll Receive

  • One sealed 4-inch Vitro Culture® tissue culture bag
  • Approximately 4 small plantlets grown in sterile nutrient gel
  • Grower's Choice — a randomly selected Bucephalandra species, unlabeled
  • 100% free from snails, algae, pesticides and pathogens
  • Rinse the gel away and separate the plantlets before planting

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Buce, Bucep
  • Scientific nameBucephalandra sp. (random selection)
  • Leaf colour and shape — Varies; may include green, red, blue or iridescent tones
  • Origin — Borneo, Indonesia
  • Placement — Foreground to midground, attached to hardscape
  • Mature height — 2-4 inches
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium
  • CO₂ — Not required, though it speeds an already slow plant
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — None needed; tie or glue the rhizome to wood or rock
  • Growth habit — Amphibious epiphyte, feeds from roots and water column
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • Expect roughly an inch of growth per year. Bucephalandra is one of the slowest plants in the hobby. Whatever species you receive will hold its size and shape for a long time — which is exactly why aquascapers use it on permanent hardscape.
  • Never bury the rhizome. The horizontal stem must sit in open water, tied or glued to a surface. Buried, it rots, and a plant this slow does not grow back from that in a season.
  • You cannot request a species. We do not label these and cannot swap them. If you need a specific variety, buy it as a named listing — this bag exists to be good value, not to be chosen from.
  • Keep the light modest. Slow growth means algae gets there first under strong lighting. Low to medium light gives cleaner leaves and better colour on most Buce.
  • Separate the four plantlets before attaching. Rinse the gel off and split them apart. Spread across a piece of wood they knit together far better than one lump glued in place.

Want to go deeper? Read our complete Bucephalandra Care Guide.

Notes

  • Photos are sample representations only. The species and coloration will vary. Plants are not labeled or identified. Avoid burying the rhizome; always attach to a hard surface for best results.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

What We Guarantee

24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.

How to Submit a Claim

  1. Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
  2. Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
  3. Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.

Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.

Conditions That Void the Guarantee

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
  • Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
  • Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
  • Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
  • Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services

Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.

Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.

What We Can't Guarantee

  1. Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
  2. Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
  3. Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
  4. Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.

Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

Your cooperation in protecting the environment is appreciated. For continuously updated information, refer to the USDA State Noxious Weed list here.

Thank you for your responsible commitment to environmental preservation.

Customers praised these tissue culture plants as "beautiful and healthy" with "excellent value." Most received generous quantities that separated into multiple clumps. Common feedback: plants arrive tiny but grow well. Main concern is lack of species labeling—shoppers wish they knew "what kind it was." Packaging consistently noted as excellent.

  • Dense and healthy leaves, got 8 clumps. Three times as many clumps as single plants!
  • Beautiful group of the tiniest leaves. Millions of plants. Great bargain!
  • Beautiful healthy plants. Never disappoints.

Buy this buce

The leaves were dense and healthy and I was able to get like 8 clumps from this. It was only about 40% more than a single non-tissue culture plant, but had three times as many clumps. Don’t waste your money on a single, specific variety. Just buy this and be happy.

I'm new to a planted aquarium. I knew I wanted live plants but the varieties are a bit daunting. I setup a 55gal tank with CO2 generator and 5,000 lumens of light. Plants are forming oxygen bubbles and appear healthy. Fish seem happier with more to swim around. Only been a week, but everything looks great to me!

Lots of tiny plants

Great value but keep in mind the plants are tiny. That being said there's a lot in each bag. I bought 2 and was able to break them up into at least 6 mini clumps each! They filled in a lot of the gaps in my Dragon Stone!

Awesome plants

This was my first time ordering from this company, but everything came in, packaged beautifully and healthy. I left them in water for about a week before I could get to plant them on my driftwood. They lasted greatly and look great. Can’t wait to see they look like as they get larger.

Great deal

This is a great way to get a sizable portion of healthy Buce without any risk. Several good size portions in one cup so it’s easy to place in several spots or tanks. The only drawback is you don’t know what it is in case you want more!

surprised

The order came quickly!
I was amazed of how those plants were so condensed.
It has been a week and now all of the little ones are growing happy feet (roots)

I would buy if they were labeled.

Very disappointed the pictures that you put on your advertisements don’t match what you ship. I’m...

My aquarium is new and I would like to get plants that have some height to them so that I can develop a background my gravel bed is not of the quality that it will be.
