Alternanthera Ocipus

Warm tones rather than pure red. Alternanthera 'Ocipus' runs green through pink, bronze and red on the same plant, so a group reads as a gradient instead of a solid block. It is also among the more forgiving members of a genus that already colors without pressurized CO₂.

Grower's Notes

• Several colors on one plant is the point. Where 'Super Magenta' gives you a single saturated tone, Ocipus spreads green, pink, bronze and red across the group — useful when a layout needs a transition rather than a block.
• Trim and replant the tops. Cut stems throw side shoots below the cut, which is how a few stems become a full stand.
• Color tracks light and iron together. A well-fed tank under weak light keeps it green.
• It arrives emersed-grown and will drop some of that foliage as it converts. Judge the color on new growth after two or three weeks.
