Anubias Broad White Vitro Culture

Pack: 1 Bag

Price
$24.99

Anubias Broad White carries some of the heaviest white variegation of any Anubias — wide leaves marbled cream and green, with individual leaves sometimes coming through almost entirely white. This is the tissue-culture format, which is the cheapest way into a plant that is otherwise expensive per rhizome.

What You'll Receive

Fresh, healthy Anubias Broad White cultivated using Vitro Culture® tissue culture technology and sealed in sterile media for optimal quality and transport.

Pack Options Available:

1 Bag: One 4-inch sealed Vitro Culture® bag containing healthy Anubias Broad White plantlets.
5 Bags: Five 4-inch sealed Vitro Culture® bags containing healthy Anubias Broad White plantlets.
10 Bags: Ten 4-inch sealed Vitro Culture® bags containing healthy Anubias Broad White plantlets.

Each bag contains multiple young plantlets ready to rinse, separate, acclimate, and plant in your aquarium or high-humidity emersed setup.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Broad White Anubias
  • Scientific name — Anubias barteri 'Broad White'
  • Origin — Cultivated variety; the genus is native to West and Central Africa
  • Placement — Midground, attached to wood or stone
  • Mature height — 6-10 inches
  • Growth rate — Very slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Advanced
  • Light — Low to medium. Bright light is the fastest way to lose this plant — see the note below.
  • CO₂ — Not required
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — Not required. Attaches to hardscape.
  • Growth habit — Amphibious; also grows emersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • White tissue has no chlorophyll, which is what makes this an advanced plant. A heavily variegated leaf produces far less energy than a green one, so growth is slower, damage takes longer to recover from, and algae gets a head start on the white areas. Keep it shaded and it will be fine; put it under a strong light and it will decline.
  • Rinse the gel off and separate the plantlets before mounting. Attach the rhizome to wood or stone — never bury it.
  • Tissue-culture plants start very small, and a very slow plant with reduced chlorophyll starts slower still. Give this one a season before judging it.
  • Variegation is unpredictable. Some leaves come mostly white, some mostly green. An all-white leaf will eventually exhaust itself and drop — that is normal, not a fault.
  • Sterile media means no snails, algae or pesticide residue, which is why this format suits shrimp tanks.

Notes

Plants grown in tissue culture are produced in sterile laboratory environments and may appear smaller than mature aquarium plants. Once introduced into the aquarium with proper lighting and nutrients, they will gradually adapt and develop into fully established plants.

Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
