Anubias Coffeefolia

Format: Rooted Potted

Price
$14.99

Want texture from an Anubias? Coffeefolia grows deeply rippled, corrugated leaves that look closer to a coffee plant than a typical smooth Anubias — and new leaves emerge bronze-copper before hardening to deep green, so an actively growing plant shows both colors at once.

What You’ll Receive

  • Bare-Root Plants: One Anubias Coffeefolia plant with 4 or more healthy leaves, loose and unpotted
  • Potted Plants: One Anubias Coffeefolia plant with 4 or more healthy leaves, rooted in rockwool and net pot

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Coffeefolia Anubias
  • Scientific name — Anubias barteri 'Coffeefolia'
  • Placement — Midground, on wood or stone
  • Mature height — 6–10 in
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner. As tough as any Anubias
  • Light — Low to medium. Shade suits it; bright light means algae on slow leaves
  • CO₂ — Not required
  • Water — 72–82°F · pH 6.0–7.5
  • Substrate — Not required. Attaches to hardscape
  • Growth habit — Amphibious. Also grows emersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower’s Notes

  • The bronze is new growth, not stress. Fresh leaves come in coppery-bronze and darken to green over several weeks. A plant showing bronze at the growing tip is a healthy plant, not a deficient one.
  • Never bury the rhizome. Roots can go into substrate; the rhizome cannot. Buried, it rots — the most common way an Anubias is lost.
  • The rippled surface traps detritus more than a smooth leaf does. A gentle wave of the hand during water changes keeps it clean.
  • Keep it shaded. Slow growth means algae settles faster than the plant replaces the leaf, and textured leaves are harder to wipe.
  • Divide with a clean blade, keeping at least three leaves per section.

Notes

  • Avoid burying the rhizome in substrate to prevent rot. Attach to hardscape for best results. Minor cosmetic leaf blemishes are normal and will improve with new growth in your tank.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

Customers praised these aquatic plants as "beautiful" and "healthy" with strong roots and vibrant green color. Most arrived in excellent condition with fast shipping and careful packaging. However, some noted sizing inconsistencies - plants were sometimes smaller than expected. A few reported survivability issues due to cutting too close to nodes or rotting.

Healthy, Way smaller than expected

Plants look healthy and well packaged and arrived fast but anubias coffeola arrived way smaller than expected after reading other reviews for this plant with photos and watching youtube unboxing videos. They were $20 potted plants. The anubias jalapeno I also ordered I knew would be small but also are more rare. My coffeola plants in pots are 4 inches tall at the tallest. For perspective, Size comparison to a ten gallon tank And ruler has my thumb on the four inch mark.

So strong!

I've never handled a coffeefolia before, and I was very impressed with how sturdy it is. The specimen sent to me is beautifully colored, no notches, no cuts, no blemishes. The roots were a little squirrely to put into my substrate, but that's probably because I'm a little clumsy. Please excuse my poor camera quality.

Anubias Cofeefolia

The plant arrived moist and with a healthy sized root. Nice deep green color save for one lighter green leaf which may be newer growth? I was expecting a larger specimen for the price but I would say I am generally satisfied. It looks great in my tank and will hopefully fill out in the weeks to come.

Delicate on Delivery

The plant was delivered on the 5th day, but sadly a couple of the leaves had fallen off in package. Hopefully the plant will recover.

Beautiful Plants

They are very healthy, and very beautiful! I cannot wait until I get the other two so I can place them in my tank. The fish love it, it’s a great hiding spot for my electric blue ram.

Beautiful plants

I got the buy 2 get 1 free deal and I'm so glad I did. These plants are so healthy I actually was wondering if I ordered fake ones. They look great in my tank .

One was melted, but overall VERY pleased

I received 3 of these plants as part of a Buy2Get1Free deal and one of them arrived completely melted (rhizome and stems just broke apart when I unpackaged them). The other two are beautiful and the picture of health, so I’m not very worried about it, since it was “free” anyway. They are currently planted in my betta’s tank and she loves resting on the leaves. They’re very unique and despite the melted plant, all 16 other if the plants I ordered were in beautiful condition and I’m very pleased with Aquarium Plants Factory yet again!

Healthy and Big

Beautiful plants and we'll established. There are two plants tucked in the driftwood in my picture.

Your plants are cut too close to the nodes. This limits survivabity, especially with Anubias.

You provide a great selection but you cut your plants too close to the node. This limits survivabity with Anubias and makes ferns grow very slowly.

Received looking great.

One was fairly small. Both look very green and hearty. Received with multiple other plants everything grew in nicely. For some reason both the coffeefolia just rotted from the base. (I didnt burry them in substrate.

Amazing condition!

I purchased this in my second order with the company. All three types of plants (Anubias and two buce) were fabulous specimens! They arrived well packaged, generous portions, and were in excellent condition. These were hands down the BEST plants I’ve ever purchased, both online and in person! They didn’t pay me for this review, and I’ll definitely be a returning customer!
