Anubias Emerald Bloom

Broad heart-shaped leaves in deep glossy emerald. Anubias barteri 'Emerald Bloom' is a large, thick-leaved cultivar that gives a scape mass and color depth rather than fine detail — and asks for nothing but shade and something to hold on to.

Important Planting Instructions: Do not bury the rhizome in substrate or it will rot. Attach to rock or driftwood using cotton thread. Do not use glue, as it burns the sensitive tissue and permanently destroys the rhizome.

Grower's Notes

• Big leaves are efficient coverage. Anubias is priced per plant, not per area — so on a large piece of wood a broad-leaved cultivar like this covers ground that would take several nano Anubias to fill.
• Anubias is algae-tolerant, not algae-resistant. Thick leathery leaves resist damage, but the plant grows far too slowly to outcompete algae. What protects it is shade: low light starves the algae. Broad leaves catch more light than small ones, so placement matters more here than usual.
• Never bury the rhizome. Roots can go into substrate; the rhizome cannot. Buried, it rots — the most common way an Anubias is lost.
• Wipe the leaves occasionally at water changes. A broad surface on a slow plant accumulates debris it cannot shed.
• Divide with a clean blade, keeping at least three leaves and some roots per section, and attach each piece to hardscape.

Notes
