Anubias Petite White Marble

Format: Bare-root Plant

Price
$8.99

Miniature leaves in white and pale cream, barely half an inch across. Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite White Marble' is among the most heavily variegated plants in the hobby — and one of the least forgiving. A collector's plant, not a first Anubias.

What You'll Receive

  • 1 Bare-root Anubias Petite White Marble plant
  • Carefully selected and prepared by Aquarium Plants Factory®

Each plant is unique. Leaf coloration, marbling pattern, and size may vary naturally.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Petite White Marble Anubias
  • Scientific name — Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite White Marble'
  • Origin — Cultivated form; the species is native to West Africa
  • Placement — Midground; attach to driftwood, stone or décor
  • Leaf size — Approximately 0.5-1 inch
  • Mature height — 2-4 inches
  • Growth rate — Very slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Advanced
  • Light — Low. Not medium, not bright — see the note below.
  • CO₂ — Not required, though stable CO₂ helps a plant with this little photosynthetic capacity.
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5. Stability matters more than any specific value.
  • Substrate — Not required. Epiphyte — attach the rhizome to hardscape and never bury it.
  • Growth habit — Amphibious; grows emersed as well as submersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • White tissue does no work. The pale areas carry little or no chlorophyll, so the plant runs on whatever green is left — on a heavily marbled specimen that is very little. Everything follows from this: near-static growth, slow recovery from damage, and no capacity to shrug off a bad month.
  • Low light, always. Pale tissue burns where green tissue would be fine, and more light will not produce more marbling. Shade under driftwood or behind taller plants is the right position.
  • Algae is the real threat. A plant this slow cannot outgrow anything. Keep the tank balanced, keep the light down, and if algae does establish, do not scrub — the leaves are tiny and tear easily.
  • It can revert to green. Under stress the plant may push plain green leaves. Those leaves are healthier but they are not what you bought; trim them at the rhizome if you want the marbling to stay dominant.
  • Do not divide it early. At this growth rate a division may take a year to look like a plant again. Let it build a substantial rhizome first.

Notes

Photos are for reference only. Marbling varies plant to plant, so the specimen you receive will not match the photograph. Growth is slow and survival depends heavily on proper care and placement. This plant is not recommended for beginners.

Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
