Green Wavy is one of the plainer Bucephalandra varieties, and that is the point — small dark green leaves with a rippled margin, no metallic sheen competing for attention. It comes already attached to driftwood, so it goes straight into the tank.

What You'll Receive

  • Sold as a plant on driftwood.
  • Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Green Wavy Buce on Driftwood
  • Scientific name — Bucephalandra sp. 'Green Wavy'
  • Also known as — Buce, Bucep
  • Origin — Borneo (genus range)
  • Placement — Foreground to midground
  • Mature height — 2-4 inches
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium
  • CO₂ — Not required
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — None needed. Epiphyte; feeds from the water column.
  • Growth habit — Amphibious rhizome creeper; grows submersed or emersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • The rhizome must stay above the substrate. It already is on the driftwood — set the piece on top of the substrate rather than pushing it in.
  • Farm-raised, not wild-collected. All the Bucephalandra we carry is farm-grown, and much of it is raised from tissue culture rather than collected from Borneo.
  • Some leaf melt after shipping is normal. The rhizome survives and pushes new submersed leaves within a few weeks.
  • It creeps sideways along the wood over time, eventually covering it. Give it a year and the mount disappears under leaf.
  • Moderate flow across the plant keeps debris off the leaves — in still water, slow-growing Buce leaves collect detritus and then algae.

Notes

Minor leaf melt may occur after introduction as the plant adjusts to new water parameters. This is normal and temporary — new submersed leaves regrow from the rhizome once the plant stabilizes.

Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

Customers praised these beautiful, healthy aquatic plants on driftwood, noting they "arrived in great condition" and were "almost identical to the photo." Most shoppers were extremely satisfied. One concern: driftwood may float initially and require weighing down as it's not pre-waterlogged. One winter shipment didn't survive.

  • Almost identical to the photo and even had flowers on it. Beautiful healthy plant.
  • Awesome plants on driftwood. Extremely happy
  • Arrived very healthy looking just like photo. Love it and would buy again.

Lovely plants and great amount

I really like these, only complaint is if you are planning on putting them in your tank they will probably float. I had to weigh them down. It would have been 5 stars if the driftwood was already waterlogged.

Didn't recover from the shippping fiasco.

May have been a good purchase. If it had not been sent on a 4,000 mile journey in the winter time. Incredibly some things did survive. Unfortunately this wasn't one of them. :(
