Grower’s Notes

  • Green is the selling point. If you already have Wendtii Brown or a red Crypt and want contrast rather than more of the same, this is the one that supplies it — same easy care, opposite color.
  • Expect it to melt after planting. Crypts drop their leaves on a change of conditions and rebuild from the roots over two to four weeks. Leave it alone through that.
  • Place it once and feed at the roots. Crypts melt again every time they are moved.
  • Hard water is no obstacle — Cryptocoryne generally do better in harder water than most planted-tank species.
  • Also available as sterile Green Gecko Vitro Culture if you want several plantlets in one bag.

Aquatic plant arrives with healthy roots and vibrant green color. Customers praised the quality and generous quantity, though some experienced size smaller than expected. Common "crypt melt" occurred in shipping for some, but roots remained intact. "Really nice looking plant" with dense growth. Quick shipping and careful packaging noted.

My current favorite

Beautiful little plant. Love the fine leaves and dense growth. Excited to see how it will look when it matures. So far no melt. It did have a rough trip as it was delayed several days by post office but arrived healthy. Bought 2 portions and divided into smaller clumps. They came as one plant per portion purchased. I was able to split the two into 9 small portions easily without them being too small though I probably could have divided further. Very happy.

Completely melted...but Im hopeful

Unfortunately my crypt green gecko was completely melted in the bag. However the melty mush was bright green and the roots were intact and healthy. I planted it anyway and am hopeful it was just a case of crypt melt and the plant will bounce back.

Looks okay

Smaller than expected and very little root. With Crypts the leaves melt in order to convert from emersed growth to immersed growth, so having the roots broken off means there is less to regrow from plus the obvious that it doesn't stay put since you can't bury crypts below the rhizome. Otherwise it looks healthy, we'll see how good it is in a month or so.

Really nice looking plant

I was expecting this to die back or "melt" because it's a crypt but it hasn't. I love the bright green color.

small but generous amount

I imagine they are small because they are tissue culture? But wow there were a lot in the package. Look healthy.
