Want a Crypt with pattern rather than plain color? Cryptocoryne nurii carries pink to bronze veining over irregular dark mottling on narrow lance-shaped leaves — a marked plant rather than a solid one, and rare enough that most aquarists have never kept it. This is the sterile Vitro Culture® format.

What You’ll Receive

One 4-inch sealed Vitro Culture® bag containing multiple Cryptocoryne nurii plantlets, ready to be planted in your aquascape.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Nurii Crypt
  • Scientific name — Cryptocoryne nurii
  • Also known as — Cryptocoryne nurii var. raubensis 'Rosen Maiden'
  • Origin — Malaysia
  • Placement — Foreground to midground
  • Mature height — 3–5 in
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Intermediate
  • Light — Low to medium. Brighter light brings out richer color
  • CO₂ — Not required, though it strengthens root growth and color
  • Water — 72–82°F · pH 6.5–7.5. Hard water suits it, as it does most Crypts
  • Substrate — Required. Root feeder — nutrient substrate or root tabs
  • Growth habit — Amphibious. Also grows emersed
  • Propagation — Substrate runners

Grower’s Notes

  • Stability matters more than intensity here. Nurii holds its veining and mottling in a settled tank and loses definition when conditions swing — it rewards leaving alone rather than tinkering.
  • Expect it to melt after planting. Crypts drop their leaves on a change of conditions and rebuild from the roots over two to four weeks. Leave it in place.
  • Place it once. Crypts melt again every time they are moved, and this one is slow enough that a second melt costs months.
  • Feed at the roots. In inert gravel it survives without developing the pattern it is bought for.
  • Rinse the gel off completely before planting or it clouds water and feeds algae in the first weeks.

Notes

  • Photos are for reference; leaf pattern and color vary considerably with lighting and nutrients.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

Cryptocoryne Nurii Tissue Culture Aquarium Plants

The order arrived in relatively quick time and in good condition. There were five individual clumps as show in the description. Each of the plantlet clumps were healthy and could have easily been divided into more plants. I cohse to wait to establish the plants before doing that, however. I guess the question comes down to this: would I buy plants from Aquarium Plants Factory again? The answer is yes. The product is good as is was the communication from the sellers. Thanks! ~Ron
