Cryptocoryne petchii 'Pink'

Format: Bare-root Plants

Price
$9.99

Want pink without a high-tech tank? Cryptocoryne petchii 'Pink' holds soft blush-pink to reddish-brown tones on gently ruffled leaves — and does it in low light with no CO₂, which almost no other pink plant manages.

What You’ll Receive

Sold as loose bare-root plants:

  • Bare-root Plants: 1 small, healthy bare-root rosette (young nursery-grown portion)
  • Young ex-vitro plants, grow in a controlled laboratory environment
  • These pest-free, young plants were grown in a lab before transitioning ex-vitro for maximum hardiness. Expect natural variations in their initial size and color as they settle in and mature in your tank!

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Petchii Pink Crypt, Pink Crypt
  • Scientific name — Cryptocoryne petchii 'Pink'
  • Origin — Sri Lanka
  • Placement — Foreground to midground
  • Mature height — 3–5 in
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium. Brighter light deepens the pink and bronze
  • CO₂ — Not required
  • Water — 72–82°F · pH 6.5–7.5. Hard water suits it, as it does most Crypts
  • Substrate — Required. Root feeder — nutrient substrate or root tabs
  • Growth habit — Amphibious. Also grows emersed
  • Propagation — Substrate runners

Grower’s Notes

  • Color is a lighting response, not a health signal. Under low light it reads greener with a bronze cast; under stronger light the pink comes forward. Both are healthy plants.
  • Expect it to melt after planting. Crypts drop their leaves on a change of conditions and rebuild from the roots over two to four weeks. Leave it alone through that.
  • Feed at the roots. This is a root feeder, and in inert gravel it survives without developing color or density.
  • Place it once. Crypts melt again every time they are moved, and this one is slow enough that a second melt costs months.
  • Hard water is no obstacle. Cryptocoryne generally do well in harder water than most planted-tank species — if stem plants have disappointed you in hard tap water, Crypts are the group to try.

Crypt Petchi Pink

Received the Petchi Pink in timely manner. Although plants were small they appear very healthy, have an attractive color with good roots. Planted in tank that I am hoping will mature into a "jungle" type aquascape. I am very satisfied with the order.
