Want a Hygrophila that stays in the midground? Hygrophila corymbosa 'Kompakt' is the dwarf cultivar — broad bright green oval leaves on stems with much shorter internodes, so it grows into a dense low bush instead of running for the surface like standard corymbosa.

What You’ll Receive

Your choice of Loose Fresh-Cut Plants, Fresh-Cut Bunched, or Fresh-Cut Potted

  • Loose Fresh-Cut Plants: Includes approximately 3+ loose, fresh-cut stems without roots. Perfect for flexible planting arrangements.
  • Fresh-Cut Bunched: Approximately 3+ fresh-cut stems without roots, bundled with foam and a plant weight for easy placement.
  • Fresh-Cut Potted: About 3+ fresh-cut stems without roots, securely potted in a net pot with rockwool, ensuring stability and healthy growth.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Kompakt, also known as Compact Hygrophila
  • Scientific nameHygrophila corymbosa 'Kompakt'
  • Also known asNomaphila siamensis 'Parvifolia'
  • Origin — Cultivated form; the species is native to Southeast Asia
  • Placement — Midground
  • Shipped size — Approx. 3+ fresh-cut stems, roughly 3-6 in
  • Mature height — 4–8 in
  • Suits — 10 gallons and up
  • Growth rate — Medium

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Medium. Stronger light keeps the internodes short and the bush tight
  • CO₂ — Recommended, not required
  • Water — 68–82°F · pH 6.0–7.5
  • Substrate — Required. Root and water column feeder
  • Growth habit — Amphibious. Also grows emersed in paludariums
  • Propagation — Cuttings — trim and replant stem tops and side shoots

Grower’s Notes

  • Short internodes are the whole point. Standard Hygrophila corymbosa stretches to 20 inches and beyond with wide gaps between leaf pairs. 'Kompakt' packs them close, which is why it holds a hedge shape where the parent plant does not — and why it fits a 10-gallon tank that the parent would swamp.
  • Light keeps it compact. Under weak light the internodes lengthen and it loses the dwarf habit — trimming won't bring it back.
  • Trim and replant the tops. Each cut forces side shoots, which is how a few stems become a solid midground block.
  • Root tabs help noticeably. It draws from both roots and water column, and leaf size drops in inert gravel.
  • Also available as sterile Kompakt Vitro Culture.

Notes

  • Pictures shown are for reference only. Actual plant size, shape, and color may vary depending on growing conditions. Plants may arrive grown emerged or submerged depending on nursery cycle.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

What We Guarantee

24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.

How to Submit a Claim

  1. Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
  2. Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
  3. Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.

Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.

Conditions That Void the Guarantee

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
  • Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
  • Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
  • Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
  • Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services

Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.

Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.

What We Can't Guarantee

  1. Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
  2. Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
  3. Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
  4. Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.

Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

Your cooperation in protecting the environment is appreciated. For continuously updated information, refer to the USDA State Noxious Weed list here.

Thank you for your responsible commitment to environmental preservation.

Beautiful Fast Grower

Love this plant; it has remained very healthy from the start and I'm seeing new leaves every day. Love how low and bushy it grows, with dark, bark-like stems. It looks like a little garden shrub. I received a larger plant along with a smaller one and they're both doing very well.

First time online buyer

Plants came in great. Nice clean crisp. Rooted plants had nice systems. They start growing after two days of planting. That is when I started to see the changes in a positive way.
I'll be a return customer. Shipped in a timely manner. Keep up the good work and keep investing into your products. People will return.

Stout and healthy

Surprised how tiny they were, but they’re also very healthy with substantial root nubs. Clearly well loved, as they’ve got sturdy stems and leaves. Been a few weeks and they have taken a little bit to acclimate to the blackwater tank, but they’re growing now. Snails are uninterested in munching them. All in all good
