Hygrophila Corymbosa

Big leaves, fast. Hygrophila corymbosa — Giant Hygro or Temple Plant — grows broad, bright green leaves on sturdy upright stems and reaches 10–20 inches quickly without CO₂. Where fine-leaved stems give texture, this gives mass, which is exactly what a bare background needs.

Grower’s Notes

• Leaf size is the reason to choose it. Most fast background stems are fine-leaved. Corymbosa's broad leaves read as solid green from a distance, which is why Dutch-style layouts use it to build depth against narrow-leaved neighbors.
• It will outgrow the tank if you let it. Trim every few weeks or it reaches the surface and shades everything in front.
• Trim above a leaf node and replant the tops — cuttings root within days.
• Lower leaves yellowing usually means the group is planted too densely. Space stems an inch or more apart.
• Fast growth makes it a useful nutrient sponge while a new tank settles and slower plants establish.
• The narrow-leaved Hygro Willow is the same genus with a completely different silhouette, and the compact 'Kompakt' form stays under 8 inches for smaller tanks.

Notes

• Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation. Unless specific, we don't guarantee aquatic plants will be grow emerged, or submerge.
• Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
