Ludwigia Tornado is the stem plant that looks like it is caught mid-spin. Each narrow leaf twists into a corkscrew as it grows, so a planted group reads as motion rather than a flat wall of foliage. Color runs olive-green to rust and red depending on how hard the tank is driven.

Grower's Notes

  • The curl is a light response, not a fixed trait. Under medium light the leaves loosen and flatten out. Strong light directly overhead is what tightens them into the spiral this variety is sold for.
  • Expect straight leaves out of the bag. Tissue culture plantlets are grown emersed and arrive without the twist. The curled form appears on the new submersed growth over the following few weeks.
  • Iron drives the red. Without a comprehensive micronutrient dose the plant grows well but stays green. Regular iron dosing under strong light is what pushes the color toward rust and wine red.
  • Separate the culture into small clusters. Rinse the gel away and plant two or three plantlets per spot, spaced about an inch apart. Planting the whole mat as one lump kills the center.
  • Trim the tops, replant them, discard the base. Like most Ludwigia, older lower stems go leggy. Cutting the top few inches and replanting them keeps the group dense and evenly colored. Also available as fresh-cut stems.

Notes

  • Appearance may vary depending on growing conditions. Plants may arrive in emersed form and will transition to submerged growth once planted in your aquarium. Some initial leaf melt may occur during acclimation.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

The only Mini Pellia moss I've bought that didn't die!!

FINALLY a portion that didn't die on me! I've bought this species of moss SOO many times from various places and each time none of it made it past a month. Even though my tanks are matured and clean it would just turn brown and disintegrate.
Bought one back in September from here because it was on sale and the portion size caught my eye. It's growth has not disappointed! First 2 pictures show just some of the growth from that September batch and I didn't even include the other 2-3 more rocks that look similar.
Bought another batch during the Black Friday sale to cover more rocks and the portion was bigger than the first. You do need to clean the old growth off but even then, its still waaay more than I ever got from other places.

Competitor Comparison

I bought plants from you and a major competitor because both of you guys lacked some of the plants I wanted. Your company processed and shipped a day faster, packaged better, offered free shipping, and the plants arrived in much better shape. My experience using aquarium plants factory Was so refreshing in comparison. Thank you, Walter Hill

Mini Pellia not all Pellia

I had to pick out the Christmas Moss then attach it to another stone. If you don't mind Christmas Moss this is ok but I only wanted Pellia.
