Ludwigia Pantanal Vitro Culture

One of the hardest reds worth growing. Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata 'Pantanal' carries narrow needle-like leaves in whorls, coloring from pink through to fiery red — a texture and color combination almost nothing else in the hobby offers. It also demands high light, CO₂ and soft water to show it. This is the sterile Vitro Culture® format.

Grower's Notes

• Pantanal punishes instability. It reacts to swings in CO₂, light period or fertilization faster than almost any other stem plant — usually by dropping its lower leaves. Have the tank running steadily before you add it.
• Soft water is not optional. Pantanal wants low carbonate hardness. In hard alkaline tap water it stunts at the tips whatever else you do — test KH rather than chasing a pH number.
• Good flow matters as much as light. Stagnant water shows up as stunted tips.
• Trim the tops and replant them — cuttings color faster than the stumps regrow. Tissue culture removes the pest risk but not the demands, so expect a short adaptation period and green early growth.
