Ludwigia Peruensis, correctly known as Ludwigia glandulosa, is one of the most colorful and unique members of the Ludwigia family. Native to the wetlands of the southeastern United States, this species has earned a reputation among aquascapers for its bold red-to-burgundy foliage, upright growth, and striking presence.
Often mislabeled in the aquarium trade as Ludwigia perennis or Ludwigia peruensis, this plant is easily distinguished by its rigid stems and lanceolate leaves that develop rich, wine-red coloration under high light. In lower light, the leaves transition to olive-green with red undersides, offering a two-toned effect that adds depth to any aquascape.
