Ludwigia Atlantis

Stripes, not solid color. Ludwigia 'Atlantis' is a variegated mutation of Ludwigia repens — yellow striping runs through the leaves over green to pinkish-red stems, and submerged growth pulls the whole plant towards warm reddish-orange. Grown at our own nursery.

Grower’s Notes

• Variegated tissue carries less chlorophyll. That's what makes the stripes visible and what makes this harder than ordinary Ludwigia repens — less energy produced per leaf, so less tolerance for weak light or thin feeding.
• The stripe pattern and the orange color are separate things. Striping is genetic; the reddish-orange develops under strong light in submerged growth.
• It arrives in emersed form and looks quite different. Judge it after the second flush of submerged leaves.
• Trim the tops and replant them. Repeated topping builds a dense group; single stems look sparse.
• Its closest relative in the range is Ludwigia sp. Red Skeleton — similar veined look, different color.
