Ludwigia sphaerocarpa, also known as Roundfruit Primrose Willow, is an uncommon stem plant that’s gaining recognition for its unique growth form and coloration. Native to the wetlands of southwestern North America, this rare Ludwigia is still relatively new to the aquarium hobby but has quickly become a favorite for those seeking something truly distinct.
At Aquarium Plants Factory’s nursery, we cultivate Ludwigia sphaerocarpa emersed, where it grows upright with green stems and narrow leaves. Once submerged in an aquarium with strong lighting and a stable environment, it undergoes a dramatic transformation—its leaves become broader and wavier, developing rich orange to reddish-brown hues. The growth habit becomes compact and horizontal, with thick stems forming almost rosette-like clusters.
