Want orange rather than red? Rotala H'ra is the one that gets there — slender needle-like leaves running through pink and apricot to red, a warmer range than the crimson most Rotala produce. It came out of Gia Lai province in Vietnam and has been a Dutch-layout staple ever since.

Grower’s Notes
- It runs orange, not crimson. If you want deep blood red, choose Rotala Blood Red. H'ra gives you the warmer pink-apricot end of the range, which is why the two are often planted together.
- Lean nitrate brings the color forward. A heavily fed tank keeps it green and leafy however strong the lighting.
- Trim and replant the tops. Each cut branches the stem, and it is that branching that turns a few stems into a dense block.
- Plant stems a little apart. Packed tight, the inner stems lose color first and then shed their lower leaves.
- Expect melt in the first fortnight as it converts from emersed growth. Judge the color on the new growth.

Received a great number of stems that all had a healthy number of leaves. I've noticed now after 5 days that some of them are starting to melt.

These immediately took off in my tank and sprouted many many roots. Initially they will twist and grow horizontally but eventually when they shed their emersed leaves, they will grow vertical and with thinner immersed leaves. Mine is starting to redden up after about a month. I love them so much!

Arrived yesterday morning. Shipping took longer than expected, but may be due to current situation in the US. Placed in the tank yesterday. Some stems have lost leaves which is expected, but already perking back up. Any plant I order is packaged safely and arrives in good condition. Can’t wait for the plant to show emersed growth!

The color of the leaves really added the red to my aquarium. The bundles contains lots of stems. That's all I needed for the background of my 20 gallon aquarium. The stem is about 4-5 inches long but they will get tall. They are not in the best conditions (compared to other plants that I received from APF) but they bounce back nicely.
