Emersed Growth: Fresh-cut Plants

Price
$9.99

Want orange rather than red? Rotala H'ra is the one that gets there — slender needle-like leaves running through pink and apricot to red, a warmer range than the crimson most Rotala produce. It came out of Gia Lai province in Vietnam and has been a Dutch-layout staple ever since.

What You’ll Receive

Enhance your aquarium with our versatile selection of high-quality aquatic plants, available in three convenient formats:

  • Fresh-Cut Plants: Includes approximately 6+ loose, fresh-cut stems without roots. Perfect for flexible planting arrangements.
  • Fresh-Cut Bunched: Approximately 6+ fresh-cut stems without roots, bundled with foam and a plant weight for easy placement.
  • Fresh-Cut Potted: About 6+ fresh-cut stems without roots, securely potted in a net pot with rockwool, ensuring stability and healthy growth.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Rotala H'ra
  • Scientific nameRotala sp. 'H'ra'
  • Also known asRotala rotundifolia 'H'ra'
  • Origin — Gia Lai province, Vietnam
  • Placement — Midground to background
  • Shipped size — Approx. 6+ fresh-cut stems, roughly 4-8 in
  • Mature height — 6–14 in
  • Suits — 10 gallons and up
  • Growth rate — Medium

Care

  • Difficulty — Intermediate
  • Light — Medium to high. Intensity decides how far it moves from green
  • CO₂ — Recommended, not required
  • Water — 68–82°F · pH 6.0–7.0
  • Substrate — Required. Root and water column feeder
  • Growth habit — Amphibious. Also grows emersed
  • Propagation — Stem cuttings

Grower’s Notes

  • It runs orange, not crimson. If you want deep blood red, choose Rotala Blood Red. H'ra gives you the warmer pink-apricot end of the range, which is why the two are often planted together.
  • Lean nitrate brings the colour forward. A heavily fed tank keeps it green and leafy however strong the lighting.
  • Trim and replant the tops. Each cut branches the stem, and it is that branching that turns a few stems into a dense block.
  • Plant stems a little apart. Packed tight, the inner stems lose colour first and then shed their lower leaves.
  • Expect melt in the first fortnight as it converts from emersed growth. Judge the colour on the new growth.

Notes

  • Pictures are not the actual plants you will receive, but a sample representation. Unless specific, we don't guarantee aquatic plants will be free of pests, and pesticides, grow emerged or submerge.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

What We Guarantee

24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.

How to Submit a Claim

  1. Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
  2. Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
  3. Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.

Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.

Conditions That Void the Guarantee

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
  • Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
  • Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
  • Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
  • Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services

Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.

Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.

What We Can't Guarantee

  1. Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
  2. Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
  3. Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
  4. Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.

Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

Your cooperation in protecting the environment is appreciated. For continuously updated information, refer to the USDA State Noxious Weed list here.

Thank you for your responsible commitment to environmental preservation.

Great Quality

Received a great number of stems that all had a healthy number of leaves. I've noticed now after 5 days that some of them are starting to melt.

Color and leaf size not as expected.

I was expecting these to look more like the example pictures. As with everyhing APF sells, the health was exceptional and the number of stems was saddening.

Here's some two weeks after planting (no acclimation, straight to submerged growth).

Lovely colors!

These immediately took off in my tank and sprouted many many roots. Initially they will twist and grow horizontally but eventually when they shed their emersed leaves, they will grow vertical and with thinner immersed leaves. Mine is starting to redden up after about a month. I love them so much!
Great quality!

Good so far!

Arrived yesterday morning. Shipping took longer than expected, but may be due to current situation in the US. Placed in the tank yesterday. Some stems have lost leaves which is expected, but already perking back up. Any plant I order is packaged safely and arrives in good condition. Can’t wait for the plant to show emersed growth!

Growing strong

I received a great deal of rotala, more than I expected! Leaves did experience some melting, but out of four different plants it was the only one and no big deal, still a nice pink color. Will always order with APF.

Great!

The plants arrived well packaged and promptly, and in a big healthy bunch of cuttings. They looked like they had been fresh cut for my order, so I am very pleased. Excited about the pop of color, and looking forward to watching them grow! I would definitely recommend this plant and this seller.

APF never disappoints. Arrived well packed and healthy. Best Rotalas I've seen. Wouldn't buy anywhere else.

Nice color, lots of stem

The color of the leaves really added the red to my aquarium. The bundles contains lots of stems. That's all I needed for the background of my 20 gallon aquarium. The stem is about 4-5 inches long but they will get tall. They are not in the best conditions (compared to other plants that I received from APF) but they bounce back nicely.

Alternanthera Rosanervig Mini is a striking, small-leaved cultivar of the popular Alternanthera family, prized for its vivid pink to red coloration and compact growth habit. Ideal for nano tanks and high-impact foreground to midground layouts, this miniature variety features pronounced pink veining on each leaf, adding a dramatic contrast against green aquatic plants.
