Bright yellow-green leaves in a genus that is otherwise uniformly dark. Anubias Golden holds a golden-lime tone that reads as a highlight against wood, stone and the deep green of everything else in the tank — with the same undemanding rhizome as any other Anubias. Grower's Notes
- The gold is new growth, not variegation. Each leaf emerges pale golden-lime and darkens toward green as it matures, so the color sits at the growing tip rather than being fixed in the leaf. That also means it is normally pigmented — no harder to grow than any other Anubias.
- Place it against something dark. The pale new growth is what you are paying for, and it disappears against light sand or pale stone. Dark wood or black lava rock is where it earns its price.
- Never bury the rhizome. Roots can go into substrate; the rhizome cannot. Buried, it rots — the most common way an Anubias is lost.
- Rinse the gel off completely and separate the clumps before attaching. Leftover nutrient agar clouds water and feeds algae.
- Keep it shaded. Growth is slow enough that algae settles on a leaf faster than the plant replaces it.
