Grower's Notes

• Small is the shipping size, not the plant. This will not stay 4-6 inches. Under normal aquarium conditions it becomes the same 12-20 inch rosette as the full-size listing — so plant it where a large plant can live, not where a small one fits.
• Feed it at the roots from the start. A young sword in inert gravel yellows, thins and develops holes in the older leaves. Root tabs or aquasoil under the crown are what turn a small plant into a large one.
• Give it three inches of substrate depth. Set the crown at the surface, never below. The root mass gets substantial and a shallow bed stunts it permanently.
• It propagates by floral stalk, not runner. Once settled it throws a tall stalk carrying plantlets. Leave each attached until it has four or five leaves and its own roots, then cut it free and plant it.
• Expect a transition. Grown emersed, so some arriving leaves may die back as it converts to submerged growth. New leaves follow from the crown.
