Ludwigia Pantanal

One of the most vividly colored stem plants in the hobby, and one of the least tolerant. Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata 'Pantanal' carries fine whorled leaves that run deep red into fiery orange — but only under strong light, CO₂ and steady feeding. Grower's Notes

• It ships green and that is correct. Our nursery stock is emersed, with upright green stems and plain leaves. The red and orange appear only after several weeks of submerged growth under strong light — nothing has gone wrong in the first fortnight.
• Soft water is not optional. Pantanal wants low carbonate hardness. In hard alkaline tap water it stunts at the tips whatever else you do — test KH rather than chasing a pH number.
• This is the most demanding Ludwigia we sell. It reacts to swings in CO₂, photoperiod or dosing faster than almost any other stem plant, usually by dropping its lower leaves. Have the tank running steadily first.
• Trim the tops and replant them — cuttings color faster than the stumps regrow. Fine whorled leaves contrast strongly against broad-leaved plants, so use it where that difference shows.

Notes

• Ludwigia Pantanal requires high light, pressurized CO₂, and stable nutrient dosing to achieve its vibrant coloration and healthy growth. It is not suitable for low-tech setups. Emersed plants will arrive green and may undergo a transitional phase with some leaf melt before adapting to submerged growth.
• Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
