Nymphaea 'Golden West' is an old hybrid, first hybridized by Martin E. Randig in 1936. This medium-sized tropical water lily cultivar features mottled new pads that mature to green, providing an attractive backdrop for its showy flowers. It is known for being a very profuse bloomer, with flowers that have an autumn/pink color.
'Golden West' prefers full sun to partial shade and warm water temperatures, making it well-suited for tropical climates. It can thrive in water depths ranging from shallow to several feet deep and is a popular choice among water gardeners and pond enthusiasts due to its striking flowers and ease of care.

There are two main types of water lilies, tropical and hardy. The differences between tropical and hardy water lilies are a growing habit. Tropical water lilies don't do well in winter. Hardy water lilies, on the other hand, can tolerate the cold. Tropical water lilies tubers must be removed from the pond and stored in moist conditions to come back in the future years. In warm climates, they can remain in the pond.
