Grower’s Notes
- Buying a mother plant is buying time. Anubias puts out roughly one leaf a month, so a pot this size represents years of growth. You cannot get here quickly from a small plant, whatever you do.
- Divide it on arrival if you want value. With two to three rhizomes already in the pot, you can separate them straight away and mount each on its own piece of hardscape — this works out well below the price of buying them individually.
- Never bury the rhizome. Roots can go into substrate; the rhizome cannot. Buried, it rots — the most common way an Anubias is lost.
- Cut with a clean blade, keeping at least three leaves per section. Shorter divisions stall for months.
- Wipe the leaves occasionally. Growth is slow enough that algae settles faster than the plant replaces the leaf.

What We Guarantee
24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.
How to Submit a Claim
- Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
- Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
- Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.
Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.
Conditions That Void the Guarantee
- Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
- Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
- Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
- Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
- Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services
Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.
Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.
What We Can't Guarantee
- Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
- Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
- Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
- Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.
Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

This was my first APF order, and I was really hesitant to order such an expensive plant on a first order. But the plants are for a 55g goldfish tank, so they need to be big/hardy enough to survive nibbling. I am *really* thrilled with the plant I got. Well, actually it split up into three healthy rhizomes (all with multiple HUGE leaves and evidence of new growth) so for the price, I really got three large plants.
The plants arrived looking so healthy I actually checked to make sure I hadn't accidentally selected "overnight shipping" at checkout, because I didn't think plants could spend 2 days in transit and look so good. The plant I got was a bit over 1 foot in length at its tallest, but the multiple stems and huge leaves make this plant a real presence. In the picture, the three rhizomes from this plant are in the center left, center center, and center right -- the anubias butterfly in the low center foreground is another mother plant I got from APF.

If multiple purchases for over 1,000g total water volume mean anything to prospective buyers, then this is the review to read! I've purchased nearly $1,000 of anubias from APF in 2021. All for large indoor fancy goldfish ponds/tanks. Without exception, the plants have been large, healthy, and clean. Now, nearly 6 months later, their growth has been phenomenal. I'd also like to highlight another aspect that sets APF apart from the vast majority of vendors: Their superb attention to detail when it comes to packing! I don't know about you, but nothing irks me more than having a plant shipment arrive that is in horrid shape b/c people don't care enough about their customers or the plants to properly prepare and pack them. I don't want free replacements. I want them to pack it right the first time...and APF does EXACTLY that with ALL of their plants. I have no doubt that APF would stand behind their plants if a problem arose. The thing is...with all the money I've invested in their plants, it's something that I've never yet had to concern myself with.

I have 3 established planted aquariums, a 90 gallon, a 45 gallon, and a 10 gallon shrimp tank and these plants were for a 4th, 30 gallon, to re-home my angel fish to as they are large enough now I felt they needed their own space. Time will tell, being these are anubias, I'm sure they will be fine, as I have never had any die on me in the past
