Anubias Minima

Emerged Growth: Bare-root Plants

Price
$7.99

Narrow leaves in a genus of broad ones. Anubias Minima grows slim, arching, elongated leaves that give a scape vertical line and movement where nana and barteri give mass — and it does it with the same near-indestructible rhizome the rest of the genus is bought for.

What You'll Receive

Enhance your aquarium with our fresh, high-quality plants, available in convenient formats:

  • Loose Bare-Root Plants: Includes approximately 8 or more leaves of loose, bare-root plants, providing flexibility in planting and arrangement.
  • Rooted Potted: Includes approximately 8 or more leaves, potted in a net pot with rock wool, ensuring stability and ease of placement in your aquarium.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Minima Anubias
  • Scientific nameAnubias barteri var. glabra 'Minima'
  • Also known as — Anubias Glabra Minima, Anubias Kruising
  • Origin — West and Central Africa (genus range)
  • Placement — Midground, attached to driftwood, stone or décor
  • Mature height — 3-5 inches
  • Growth rate — Slow

Care

  • Difficulty — Beginner
  • Light — Low to medium. Strong light means algae on slow-turning leaves.
  • CO₂ — Not required. Speeds an already slow plant if you already run it.
  • Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5
  • Substrate — Not required. Attaches to hardscape.
  • Growth habit — Amphibious; also grows emersed, so it suits paludariums and ripariums
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower's Notes

  • Buy it for silhouette, not for colour. Minima is plain green. What it adds is a narrow, arching leaf shape — which is exactly what a scape needs once it already has two or three broad-leaved Anubias in it.
  • Never bury the rhizome. Roots can go into substrate; the rhizome cannot. Buried, it rots — the most common way an Anubias is lost.
  • Keep it shaded. Slow growth means algae settles on a leaf faster than the plant replaces it.
  • Thick waxy leaves resist nibbling, so it holds up in tanks with cichlids, goldfish and plecos where softer planting is destroyed.
  • Divide with a clean blade, keeping two to three leaves and some roots per section, and attach each division to hardscape.

I swear I got the display plant!

When I opened the bag, this was the first plant I saw. It is absolutely gorgeous and came with 2 babies on it. I pulled one off because it was pretty big. My betta is loving these as much as I am! The pictures are of the main plant and the baby I pulled off.

First foray in planted tank

I decided after my great buy of nerites here I would try my first plant here... the picture implied it would be a bit more robust but I am happy with what I got. Healthy multi leaved rhizome and pot... few days in its holding up to my goldfish bumping... I tied it down with a weight from my old plastic plants
