Looking for the rarest Anubias we grow? Petite White Platinum is an albino cultivar of Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite' — leaves in white to pale platinum, under an inch across, on a plant that grows more slowly than anything else in the catalog. It is a collector's plant, and it needs to be treated as one.

What You’ll Receive

  • 1 Bare-root Anubias Petite White Platinum plant
  • Carefully selected and prepared by Aquarium Plants Factory®

Each plant is unique. Natural variation in size, leaf shape, and coloration is expected.

Plant Profile

  • Common name — Petite White Platinum Anubias
  • Scientific nameAnubias barteri var. nana 'Petite White Platinum'
  • Placement — Midground, on wood or stone
  • Mature height — 2–4 in
  • Growth rate — Very slow, even by Anubias standards

Care

  • Difficulty — Advanced
  • Light — Low to medium, and no more. Strong light burns near-white leaves
  • CO₂ — Not required, though stable CO₂ supports overall health
  • Water — 72–82°F · pH 6.0–7.5. Stability matters more than any single value
  • Substrate — Not required. Attaches to hardscape
  • Growth habit — Amphibious. Also grows emersed
  • Propagation — Rhizome division

Grower’s Notes

  • Almost no chlorophyll is the whole story. White tissue cannot photosynthesize, so this plant lives on very little energy. That is why it grows so slowly, why it burns under bright light, and why it has far less margin for error than an ordinary Anubias. Shade is not a preference here — it is a requirement.
  • Variegated Anubias can revert. Hybrids like this one may start producing plain green leaves and gradually lose their white coloring. This is a known trait of variegated plants, not a defect. If green shoots appear, remove them promptly — green growth photosynthesizes better and will outcompete the white if left alone.
  • Never bury the rhizome. Roots can go into substrate; the rhizome cannot. Buried, it rots.
  • Use it sparingly. A single specimen against dark wood or stone reads as a focal point; several scattered around lose the effect entirely.
  • Divide only a well-established plant, and keep at least three leaves per section. Small divisions of an albino plant frequently do not recover.

Want to go deeper? Read our complete Anubias Care Guide.

Notes

  • Photos are sample representations. As a rare albino plant, growth is slow and survival depends on proper care and placement. Not recommended for beginners.
  • Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.

What We Guarantee

24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee — We guarantee that live plants and live aquatic animals will arrive alive. In the rare case of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), you must notify us within 24 hours of the delivery time recorded on the carrier's official tracking page. The guarantee is void after that 24-hour window, as condition can no longer be attributed to transit.

How to Submit a Claim

  1. Take at least 2 clear, well-lit photos of the affected items in their original, unopened, sealed packaging, plus a photo of the shipping label on the box.
  2. Email your photos and order number to hello@aquariumplantsfactory.com within 24 hours of delivery.
  3. Do not photograph plants or animals after they have been unpacked, planted, or introduced to your aquarium — once an item enters your aquarium's ecosystem, it is no longer covered.

Approved claims are resolved with a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion, under the terms of our Refund Policy. Each item is eligible for one replacement only — replacements are final and we cannot replace a replacement.

Conditions That Void the Guarantee

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping address (vacant address, missing apartment number, or any issue that prevents delivery)
  • Packages marked "invalid address," "undeliverable," refused, or returned to sender
  • Packages left unclaimed, held at a carrier facility at the customer's request, or not retrieved promptly after delivery — live goods must be brought indoors and unpacked the day they arrive
  • Carrier delays, weather events, or delivery exceptions once the package has left our facility
  • Shipments to freight forwarders or package-forwarding services

Providing accurate, complete shipping information and monitoring your tracking are essential to keeping your guarantee valid.

Please note: the Live Arrival Guarantee covers arrival only. We cannot guarantee ongoing success — aquarium environment, water quality, nutrients, temperature, lighting, filtration, and CO2 all affect long-term results.

What We Can't Guarantee

  1. Pest-free plants (potted & bare-root): Although our plants are grown in our own clean greenhouse, we cannot guarantee they are 100% free of snails, algae, or other hitchhikers. We recommend rinsing and quarantining all plants before adding them to your aquarium. Tissue culture (in vitro) plants are the exception — they are grown in sterile lab conditions, are 100% free of pests, algae, and disease, and have never been in contact with any aquarium.
  2. Pesticide-free plants: We use homemade, organic pest control in our greenhouse and never use copper-based pesticides, which are toxic to invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and shrimp. However, we cannot guarantee plants are entirely pesticide-free — always rinse and quarantine before use in invertebrate tanks.
  3. Your aquarium's success: We are not responsible for your aquarium inhabitants, including fish, shrimp, snails, and turtles. Please quarantine all plants before use.
  4. Growth form: Unless specified, we do not guarantee plants will grow emersed or submersed in your particular setup.

Please review your state's regulations on restricted plants, as we are committed to not shipping plants that are restricted in your area. Do not release any plants into the wild or waterways, as this can harm local ecosystems by introducing invasive species.

Your cooperation in protecting the environment is appreciated. For continuously updated information, refer to the USDA State Noxious Weed list here.

Thank you for your responsible commitment to environmental preservation.

Stunning ivory-white aquatic plant that customers describe as 'beautiful' and 'gorgeous.' However, this delicate variety can be challenging, with many reporting melting issues, particularly in summer heat or during acclimation. Size is notably small, true to its petite name. When successfully established, shoppers love its compact growth and unique appearance.

  • Brought my vision to life! Super sturdy little plants and pure ivory-white.
  • Absolutely gorgeous and great for giving the impression of flowers.
  • Super healthy and cute like little pearls, among my favorite aquatic plants.

Anubias White Platinum Petite Tissue Culture are hard to grow! Not good value!

Anubias White Platinum Petite Tissue Culture are hard to grow! I had purchased Buy2/Get 1 Free plus an order of tissue cultureI Grow them in rich substrate of Fluval Stratum - both buried and floating on top - in medium to high lights. You hold your breath and admire them for 1-2 months as a rose. And then they all perished, melt away, reduced to a stump! Photos are of what left of carcasses near center. They were grown in my 55 gallons and in 1/2 gallon hemisphere.

These are teeny but so beautiful! I tied three to a small rock with thread. Excited to see them grow and add color (yes, white is a color haha) to my tank!

White Anubias looks great

Arrived looking great, even after spending a cold weekend at the USPS distribution center in Rochester, NY. I can't wait for these little gems to take hold on the driftwood I currently have them pinned to.

Lots of melt after submerging, but hoping a few recover

I bought 10 of the bare root anubias white petite when on sale for $50 for the pack of 10; I felt that was a great price for these tiny rare plants. They arrived in decent shape with a few melted leaves, but that's nothing out of the ordinary. I submerged 7 of them and put 3 in a floating "raft" of plastic mesh that holds their leaves just above the water. The ones that are submerged lost all their leaves to melt within 2 days, but the ones on the raft are doing a little better and still have leaves left. I'm hoping some of the submerged rhizomes survive the melt and are able to put out new leaves, but I'm taking off some stars because I think at least half are pretty much done for :( Usually tissue culture plants handle submerging a little better - especially anubias - but maybe these ones are more sensitive than usual. I didn't know that, so I hope this review helps someone avoid my mistakes!

Ive ordered this twice now. The first time it melted quickly in one of my tanks. The second time it showed up already melting, tried to save it by putting it in a plant grow out tank i have but it’s all gone now. Very finicky plant apparently.
